Job Description Summary:

BASIC FUNCTION:  The golf course mechanic makes major and minor repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment.  The golf course mechanic ensures that all equipment is operationally sound, properly serviced as necessary, and up to date with every safety device functioning as directed by Shop Manager will assist with the overall Golf Maintenance operation when not specifically working on maintaining equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Two years experience as a small engine mechanic. Management and organizational skills including record keeping. Ability to communicate effectively on all levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects in the many types of golf course maintenance equipment. Performs mower grinding, sharpening, and related tasks. Keeps thorough, clear, concise, and up to date service records for each piece of equipment. Prioritizes, coordinates, and carries out the servicing, repairs, and overhaul of equipment. Performs daily visual inspections of equipment. Responsible for requisitioning inventory of equipment parts. Maintains a daily equipment log of events completed so inventory is adjusted. Provide guest service to the level of results in the targeted rate.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Comply with Villas of Grand Cypress Resort policies and procedures. Communicate daily with staff and other departments in regard to duties and activities. Responsible for department and equipment cleanliness, safety and appearance. Respond to any reasonable task requested by the General Manager.

TYPICAL SCHEDULE:

Schedule varies by employee – start time is from 5 am until 7 am – every other weekend (one).  Weekends and holidays may be required based on business needs.

ENVIRONMENT:  Outdoor, mechanical shop, varied terrain, varied weather conditions.
