JOB SUMMARY
Preps surgery patients and surgical environment before operations; ensures supplies and dedicated devices are sterile and ready for surgery. Conducting sterile and unsterile supplies quality assurance checks, including leak test, bowie dick test, chemical integrators, according to sterilization principles before operation. Ensuring that all decontamination equipment, including washer decontaminators, sonic, cart washers, is free of any bio burden. Performing patient preparation for surgery by washing, shaving, transporting, positioning, and ensuring aseptic incision sites. Calibrating and maintaining both sterile and non-sterile equipment for optimal performance; making minor adjustments to avoid instrument malfunctions and keeping them in operating condition.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Certified Surgical Technologist. Prefer experience, but will consider new graduate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as a Surgical Technologist or licensed practical nurse preferred. Must be a graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Experience in an operating room setting is required. Must have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and surgical terminology, instrumentation, aseptic techniques, and surgical procedures acquired through post-secondary training.
