POSITION SUMMARY
 

Design is a life love, not just a job.  It is in fact a physical manifestation of our brands. The primary focus of the position is our Full-Service Brands – Marriott, Sheraton, Gaylord and Delta hotels.

 

A talented Senior Design Manager is an advocate for design excellence through an integrated and collaborative approach. On a project tactical level, the successful candidate for this position provides and manages all aspects of franchised, managed, or corporate projects for new construction, conversion, or adaptive re-use.  This person has a passion for hospitality design and is able to inspire internal and external participants to create design solutions that thrill guests and align with brand strategy. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
  • Manage services to scheduled deliverables.
  • Supervise, direct, motivate and train assigned staff.
  • Manage design consultants, their proposals, contracts and invoicing to project objectives.
  • May manage proper organizational structure, staff selection, performance management, salary administration, career planning, and staff budget.
  • Responsible for documenting, maintaining, administering and improving the processes for delivering services.
  • Ensure the selection and development of building products relevant to the brand specifications.
  • Coordinate Criteria/Facilities programs for assigned projects.
  • Manage selling the brand and design and negotiation of project to the external customer.
  • Provide information, interpretation and guidance daily to outside owners/franchisees as well as internal/design/construction staff for adapting brand standards to specific projects.
  • Manage project communication to owners, franchisees, internal project stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Participate in site visit/market survey to develop better understanding of site/market demands.
  • Contribute to creation of the project budget and manage to that project budget.

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and project management software is required.  Skills in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and Sketchup are desired but not required. 
Education/Experience:
  • 4-year degree in Architecture or related design discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience within the industry.
  • Architectural license preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years progressive experience in architecture at a design firm for large commercial or hospitality projects.
