About this job

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Credit Risk and, is responsible for building and creating underwriting and collections models, profitability and performance analysis, and developing test and control strategies. This role works closely with management to perform analysis and prepare data as well as serves as a mentor to the more junior analysts. Furthermore, this role requires someone who quickly adapts to change and is willing to complete all duties as assigned and requested.

Support
  • Supports various functional areas with analytical needs.
  • Completes analysis of prepared data.
  • Contributes to the department by serving as a guide and mentor to less experienced analysts.
Drive
  • Uses data and analysis and serves as a lead in solving complex problems around profitability, marketing, risk, and operational analysis.
  • Independently designs experiments and uses various testing and control strategies for collections, marketing, and operations, analyzes results, and builds predictive models to forecast future outcomes.
  • Builds statistical models/machine learning.
  • Uses analytical methods including computer and data analysis to build credit and risk models including credit underwriting, product optimization, and operational process analysis.
  • Works with credit bureaus to evaluate new data sources.
Maintain
  • Query data for developing and use data for validating the models through financial judgment and statistical tests.
  • Perform "What if" and "Ad-Hoc" Analysis.

Required Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Quantitative Field (Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or other comparable quantitative field) required with three (3) years of experience working in an analytical role in banking, finance, or retail or Bachelor's Degree in Quantitative Field (Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or other comparable quantitative field) required with five (5) years of experience working in an analytical role in banking, finance, or retail.

Knowledge Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills, Basic understanding of statistical principals (p-value, etc.). Comfortable with solving complex problems, working with computers and technology, and using higher level mathematics. Excellent written and verbal communications skills as would be needed to communicate in person, by phone, and through email; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, evaluate, and apply information. Ability to interact professionally and exhibit appropriate social skills. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products. Ability to develop and maintain business relationships. Ability to quickly learn all technology needed in order to perform the role. Prior coursework in advanced mathematics, computer programming, economics, and operations research would be beneficial. Prior work with SAS, SQL, or other analytical tool preferred.
