UnityPoint Health-Trinity is accepting applications for an RN position in our Emergency Department at our Trinity Muscatine location. This is a full time position, three 12 hour shifts per week, 7pm-7am, and every fourth weekend.

Located just outside the Quad Cities metropolitan area, Trinity Muscatine is the newest member of Unity Point Health Quad Cities. The location is perfect for anyone in the Muscatine area who requires any number of services. Trinity Muscatine is a 12 bed ED; with a level 4 Trauma designation. They see 18500 patients a year with an average of 52 patients a day.

Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.

Administers prescribed meds and treatments in accordance with approved nursing technique.

Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction/response to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

Performs patient care appropriate to condition and considering the needs specific for patient's age, utilizing critical pathways, protocols, and standards of care.

Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and the patient condition.

Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.

Able to intervene appropriately in emergency situations.

Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.

Demonstrates ability to assist physician, perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.

Communicates appropriately and clearly to Care Director, co-workers, and physicians.

Ability to effectively and efficiently triage patients using 3 tier triage system (Emergent, Urgent, Non-urgent)

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned unit.

Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Exerting 50 or more pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of accredited School of Nursing.

Must obtain and maintain CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC and TNCC certifications within the first year of hire.

Must maintain current BCLS certification or obtain within first 2 months of employment.

Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Iowa.
