This position is under the direction of the Dental Executive Director. This position will provide services in the DOH -- St. Johns school based dental sealant program. This is a grant funded position, 32 hours per week for 26 weeks.

Must be license as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Florida.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of dental terminology, dental hygiene principles and practices. Skill in using dental instruments and equipment. Sill in performing dental prophylaxis. Ability to instruct patients in preventive dental techniques. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

This position is under the direction of the Dental Executive Director. This position will provide services in the DOH -- St. Johns school based dental sealant program. This is a grant funded position, 32 hours per week for 26 weeks.

The incumbent will:

Provides dental hygiene services including:

Removing calculus deposits, accretions and stains from exposed surfaces of teeth

Performs gingival curettage and root planning

Reviews patient charts to determine course of treatment

Records activities in patient charts

Allies sealants and topical fluorides

Polishes teeth

Instructs patients in oral hygiene care and supervises patient oral hygiene care

Performs dental hygiene duties on the Public Health Mobile Center at full service schools and designated county locations

Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the Classification Specifications of the assigned position.

Participates in and actively promotes the Agency's organizational effectiveness and excellence by fostering individual and team development activities through the FDOH St. Johns Sterling Management Model.

Ensures the integrity/confidentiality of all data sets in the program; complies with the information security protocols and

Procedures (DOHP 50-10-10); security and privacy of client information is maintained; disclosure of confidential information is released only after proper authorization has been obtained; and information that is exempt from public record disclosure is maintained in a confidential manner.

Information Custodian -- Assigned responsibility for maintaining information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and Department of Health policy as it relates to Information Custodian, Delegation of Authority. Custodian duties must be included in the position description of the designee.

Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite):

Licensed as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466.F.S. Other job-related requirements for this position :Florida Driver's License

Working hours: (A) Daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (B) Total hours in workweek 40 (C) Explain any variation in work (split shift, rotation, etc.)

WHAT IS OPS EMPLOYMENT?

Other Personal Services (OPS) employment is a temporary employer/employee relationship used solely for accomplishing short term or intermittent tasks. OPS are at-will employees and are subject to actions such as pay changes, changes to work assignment and terminations at the recommendation of the employer.
