Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to maintain optimum functionality and reliability for all plant equipment. Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and reliability in the most efficient and workman like manner. Performs jobs such as inspections, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and repairs. Interacts on a regular basis with management, peer maintenance and facility personnel along with contractors/vendors.

Principal Accountabilities

* Follow all Food Safety (HACCP), GMP's, Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental programs.

* Carry out department and company safety policies and procedures at all times.

* Perform safe troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment (pumps, motors, fans, gearboxes, etc.)

* Responsible for awareness and implementation of all local, state and federal regulations as they apply.

* Responsible for repair of mechanical piping within the plant.

* Demonstrate basic welding principles.

* Demonstrate basic machine repair and rebuilding.

* Responsible for reading and understanding mechanical and piping prints.

* Have a basic understanding of electrical to assist in equipment troubleshooting and lockout.

* Maintain facilities in clean, organized and efficient operating manner.

* Participate in plant projects when needed.

* Assist process operators when necessary.

* Assist Maintenance Superintendent with control of parts inventory.

* Be able to work in and promote a positive team working environment.

Required Qualifications

* Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

* Must be 18 years or older

* Ability to read, write, and speak English

* High school diploma or GED

* Basic computer skills

* Basic math skills

* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

* Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

* Ability to work in elevated areas

* Must be able to operate machinery

* Ability to work overtime

* Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

* Must be able to perform maintenance trades including: welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication; gearbox and bearing, lubrication, and mechanical maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

* 5 years hands on experience in industrial production, specifically food manufacturing

* Have experience and full understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, and SOPs

* Able to perform maintenance trades including: electrical, pumps and piping systems and hydraulic and pneumatic systems

* Previous experience in production or manufacturing

* Previous Cargill experience

* Work history in the past 12 months

* Communication skills both within and across departments

* Able to operate heavy equipment

* Forklift certified
