Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY: Performs basic mixing and matching of paints based on formulas, samples, and customer requests. Responsibilities may include preparing color technologies and methods, determining degree of color match, assisting with proper adjustments, and cleaning and maintaining the lab.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Utilizes provided tools and techniques to mix and prepare paint and match basic or standard customer specifications, samples, and requests; tasks are more standard and less complex, while developing an understanding of various formulas.

Utilizes a software database of color formulas and information to locate appropriate mixtures.

Reviews and compares preliminary mixtures with desired product color, texture, and finish; assists with determining appropriate adjustments in cooperation with other technicians or supervisors.

Completes appropriate forms and documentation regarding the color mixing and matching process, tasks, results, and conclusions; receives direction from other technicians or chemists on specialized or complex issues.

Performs basic calculations to prepare, perform, and conclude tests and analyses.

Enters a variety of data to maintain records, update information, and track results.

Responds to basic or standard customer questions regarding formulas and the mixture process.

Cleans, maintains and calibrates standard equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

M-F 2 fist shift/ M-F / 1 3-midnight shift
Work Environment: WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, and other conditions found in laboratory environments.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Qualifications: EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience within a lab setting is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent education and experience. Ability to successfully pass a color and technical aptitude test is required.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record information
* Identifying color pigments and their differentiation;
* Following instructions and mixture steps;
* Performing basic mathematical calculations used in formulas;
* Ability to learn mixture formulas, techniques, and standards;
* Completing forms and documentation;
* PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications;
Performance Expectations: An ideal candidate is one who is easy going, doesn't mind working in a TYPE A personality management style. Candidates who do not get easily flustered.
