MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze functional requirements, customer use-case scenarios to design test procedures to perform system-level testing on new software/firmware builds, release candidates. Testing will involve smoke testing, new feature testing, regression testing, stress-tests etc.
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans and validation procedures. Articulate findings, report observations/bugs to the development team. Prepare test reports.
  • Design test bed architectures using necessary networking equipment (routers, switches etc.), TDM and Network traffic generators/analyzers.
  • Act independently with considerable judgment & initiative to determine methods and procedures on complex, high-impact testing/troubleshooting assignments.
  • Troubleshoot, characterize and report bugs, issues, product variances from requirements to improve product quality, reliability and performance - ultimately leading to an improved product experience for the customers.
  • Develop a test plan and determine test methodology for testing new features. Assemble test equipment (routers, switches etc.) for testing/troubleshooting etc.
  • Join highly-collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented R&D group focused on rapidly bringing innovative customer solutions to market.
  • Document the test results, bugs, issues using online tools such as - Bugzilla, JIRA etc.
  • Perform reporting to development team using online bug reporting tools

Required Qualifications

  • An individual with strong passion towards product quality and desire towards adding value to the R&D group by making significant contributions.
  • BSEE or BSCS Degree, Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 1-4+ years of experience in testing complex industrial products in the area of Teleprotection, Networking, Distribution & Substation Automation.
  • Experience with planning, documenting, automating and implementing grey box, black box testing solutions.
  • Solid understanding of the hardware and software development lifecycle and QA best practices
  • Proficient in using test, validation tools such as Wireshark, Terminal Emulators (SSH, Telnet, PuTTY etc.).
  • Ability to perform test automation using scripting languages (TCL/TK, Python, Shell Scripts, etc.) OR software tools such as Test Complete, Selenium, JMeter etc.
  • Must possess positive, proactive approach to solve problems and get things done.
  • A self-starter who can work with considerable sense of urgency.
  • Must have the aptitude for grasping/learning new concepts, technologies such as Carrier Ethernet, MPLS-TP, SDN to successfully perform functional testing on the products designed with these technologies.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate test findings/bugs/observations.
  • Must have solid protocols, applications and interfaces
  • The ideal candidate has a proven track record working with the following test equipment: TDM and Ethernet traffic generators/ analyzers (MTTPlus, ONT-600, Fireberd, Xena, Sage etc.), Network impairment tools such as - Spirent Attero-X, Communication protocol analyzers etc.
