Position Summary:

Forecast labor expenses/savings by researching, compiling and analyzing data from Retail Operations, Financial Services, Corporate Benefits, Regional Labor negotiators and Corporate Labor Relations. Coordinate the development, maintenance and continual improvement of the contract costing models, database templates, team resources and process standards to estimate future labor cost. Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback
  • Cost union collective bargaining agreements and forecast expenses/savings for contract economic proposals regarding wages, health care, pension and other associate benefits
  • Incorporate the economic impact of non-contractual issues such as hiring practices, legislative changes, operational changes and other items to reflect total expected labor cost during the analysis period
  • Lead/train analysts by assisting them with complex projects, and perform peer review of all major contract work
  • Assist the senior manager – Labor Costing, division controllers and operating management to ensure alignment of labor costing inputs with division business plan expectations and goals; assist with incorporating final labor cost projections into future division business plans (Level 9)
  • Partner directly with division controllers/operating management to incorporate final labor cost projects into future division business plans (Level 10)
  • Assist the post-analysis process for settled contracts to alert divisions of deviations from projections and to provide insight into potential process improvements to enhance model accuracy (Level 9)
  • Lead contract post-analysis process and implement/provide recommendations to process improvements required for model accuracy (Level 10)
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and continual improvement of the contract costing models, database templates, team resources and process standards to estimate future labor cost (Level 9)

  • Provide financial insights to the Labor Relations negotiators to make informed decisions related to contract proposals

Minimum Position Education /Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics or other business discipline
  • Working knowledge of union labor contract documentation and costing
  • Proven business acumen experience (3 years Level 9) (5 years Level 10)
  • Proven excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Business Objects
  • Labor expense forecasting experience (for Level 10)
  • Advanced technical skills, specifically Excel, Essbase and Business Objects (for Level 10)
Desired Previous Job Experience/Qualifications:
  • Retail Management, Human Resources or Labor Negotiation experience in a union environment
  • 2 years of experience managing professional associates
  • CPA or MBA
  • VBA experience
  • Labor expense forecasting experience (for Level 9)
  • Advanced data and technical skills, specifically Excel, Essbase and Business Objects (for Level 9)
