Job Description

Allied Universal Services is currently searching for a Professional Security Officer/Security Operations Operator $20hr.

We are looking for Experienced Security Professionals for an Operations Center Position in Watertown, MA.

Candidates should be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED.

Position: Global Security Operations Center Operator

Purpose: SOC Operator is responsible for receiving information from a variety of sources and must be able to disseminate that information quickly, accurately, and professionally under normal and emergency response conditions. This role is analytic, inquisitive, and curious about the security of our company, the site, and our people. They ask questions, seek answers and love data. They enjoy thinking outside the box and are looking for a longterm growth opportunity at a fast-growing global company.

Policy:
  1. Under the supervision of the Security Manager/Supervisor(s), the Operator directs and monitors of all Security Officers assigned to a designated shift at the client’s facilities.


  1. In the Shift Supervisor’s absence, the Operator assumes senior supervisory and operational responsibility for the security staff. Also, performs any senior security duties as required by the client, including safeguarding client assets and ensuring against pilferage.


Primary Duties:

  1. Monitors security systems (i.e. access, intrusion, CCTV, police scanners, weather, social media, building management equipment, etc.) and provides guidance on appropriate response according to established procedures.


  1. Receives and directs incoming internal and external telephone calls.


  1. Performs emergency telephone support and response.


  1. Provides verbal and electronically written notifications that support client’s key functions (i.e. Facilities, Security, Human Resources, Crisis Management Team, etc.)


  1. Interfaces with client personnel on related security matters.


  1. Coordinates responses to security emergencies, problems, issues, and requests for assistance according to security policies and procedures.


  1. Assists with the delivery of security system training as it relates to the Security Operations Center and local Security officer training.


  1. Fulfills reporting requirements to Security Management, Supervisors, Client and/or Client Personnel. Includes, but not limited to; leadership community, Client’s intranet common posts, social media monitoring, corporate aircraft flight tracking, operations analysis and severe weather alerting.


  1. Documents reported problems and alarm activity, analyze equipment failures, and initiates corrective action. Processes service calls to Security System Integrators and/or Facilities work request system for maintenance repairs. Directly supports investigations through their work and analysis.


  1. May be asked to perform routine Security Officer’s duties and responsibilities (i.e. tours & patrol, access control, property control, etc.)


  1. Performs related duties as required requested by client.

Special Job Requirements:

  1. Should have a minimum of 2 years of security related experience as well as possessing a good understanding and working knowledge of a Security Operations Center. Candidate should be familiar with security and life safety systems (i.e. access and intrusion control, CCTV, phones, fire systems, etc.) Other requirements include being certified in CPR and First Aid, and possessing a valid driver’s license.


  1. Previous experience in intelligence analysis or working in an operation center preferred.


  1. This is a restricted position wherein smoking is not authorized while on duty.


  1. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.


  1. Intellectual curiosity, global security monitoring, willingness to exceed in company environment.


Prerequisite Allied Universal Training (prior to working in the SOC):

  1. 4-Hour Basic orientation course; contractually required on-the-job or in service training.
  2. Client Confidentially Disclosure Agreement
  3. Guardtek and tour tags
  4. Site Orientation (16 hrs. minimum)
  5. Post Orders
  6. 2 hours of Crisis Management and Emergency notification tool training
  7. Athena 101
  8. Online training New Hire Orientation client review
  9. SOC Orientation (minimum of 2 days)


Continued Allied Universal Training (while working in the SOC):

  1. AU General Policy Manual (within 30 days)
  2. First Aid/CPR/AED (within 30 days)
  3. AU OJT Quiz (within 30 days)
  4. AU Quality Training (within 90 days)


Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing ):
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and high pressure situations.
  • May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area.
  • May be required to work overtime without advanced notice.
  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Keyboarding, understanding of the Internet, basic computer usage and operating controls.
  • Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to use company vehicle for the performance of duties.
  • On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.
  • Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
  • May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to be an effective team member.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.
