Assistant Floral Shop Manager

If you have a passion for flowers, an eye for design and can create beautiful bouquets and amazing arrangements for any occasion, then a Floral Team Leader could be the position for you. In this role, you’ll use your design experience and skills to work closely with team members to develop their passions and increase their knowledge of flowers and floral design techniques. You’ll assist our customers in planning and executing all their floral needs from a quick bouquet to elaborate arrangements for any special occasion.

• Lead demonstrations; teach customers elements of design and techniques to create hand tied bouquets and arrangements
• Provide consultations for weddings and other special events; create themes and arrangements to meet customer style and budgetary needs; oversee and ensure success of events (where applicable)

• Use trends, techniques, and product knowledge to offer suggestions, recommendations, and drive sales
• Provide a variety of size, style, and price offerings; showcase quality, Menu magazine, featured themes, and Signature design elements

Results (What We Measure)

• Maintain department appearance, fresh, high quality flowers; ensure proper handling of products and equipment; understand perishability of product, react with urgency to minimize shrink, promote sales, and create ways to move product
• Perform essential tasks for efficient Floral operations; complete orders, schedules, and manage payroll
• Oversee design area; manage execution of custom design work, storyboard projections and inventory

Work Environment

• Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, frequent lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers. Work involves exposure to cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 1–10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
• Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit.  Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer Service experience, preferably in a food service industry, grocery or retail setting
• Experience as a retail florist
• Floral arrangement/design experience
• Managerial/supervisory experience
• Passion for and experience working with various flowers
