About this job

Our Overnight Grocery team members are the people playing an integral role overnight to support the store’s daytime operations. As a team leader in this department, you’ll work closely with the crew, managing and helping develop their skills. You’ll assist in ensuring the department is running smoothly and products are out on the shelves.   • Assist customers to locate products and answer questions, ensure incredible service is provided during overnight hours

Product (What We Do)

  • Maintain department appearance and product levels; re-shop misplaced items, shrink damaged goods
  • Utilize resources and work hands-on with team to complete tasks efficiently; stock, refill, rotate product, walk aisles, unload deliveries, break down skids, build runners, sort back stock onto pallets, maximize workspace
  • Provide support to other departments; unload overnight deliveries, place product in designated back room area

Results (What We Measure)

  • Perform essential tasks for efficient Overnight operations; maintain simplified back room, orders, schedules, and manage payroll
  • Collaborate with store leadership and day operations to share and receive pertinent information to ensure efficiency of total department
  • Ensure proper handling of products, use of equipment; ensure food & human safety, simplification, company policies and procedures are followed

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, kneeling, squatting frequent heavy lifting, shelving of product, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, and reaching, along with interaction with customers and co-workers. Work may involve exposure to and work in cold and below freezing temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 8-32 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work includes use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer Service experience, preferably in a food service industry, grocery or retail setting
  • Experience working overnight hours
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
