Raft Trainees are responsible for learning Rear Boat Operator skills, including navigation, river skills, patching boats, general boat maintenance, and details of the overall float trip operation.  The Raft Trainee is also responsible for safety of passengers, interpretive narration during float trips on the Snake River. This position typically works 40 to 48 hours per week.

 

Job responsbilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn proper interpretive program of Jackson Hole as presented by float trip supervisor.
  • Learn cooking skills as presented by the Snake River Cook
  • Help patch and rig boats at the beginning of the season.
  • Float on bridge pontoons, under the supervision of senior boatmen and practice navigation techniques and landings.
  • Learn Rear Float Operator skills.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

The “must haves” for this position include: 

  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Strong Verbal English Skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 100 pounds.
  • Must be congenial with fellow crewmembers and guests
  • Must have First Aid and CPR Certification by first date of employment

 

We prefer that you additionally have the following skills / experience, but it is not required: 

  • Interpretive knowledge of Grand Tetons National Park
