BASIC PURPOSE: The Learning Design Manager is responsible for the creative output, content strategy and design development for training material with oversight of the creative team. This position is in charge of developing the instructional design and managing the team that creates effective and efficient end-user material, all in fulfillment of our brand promise. The ideal candidate is flexible in thought and process with a keen eye for unique design and approach. The role requires someone that eats, sleeps and breathes design, design culture and the pursuit of learning in a digital age.

 

           

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the creative function so that the environment, culture, team, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations, work style and other elements support the strategic goals and brand of the Love’s Family of Companies.

     

  • Ensure that the creative function operates in an efficient manner with direct alignment to learning strategy, standards, best practices and course curricula.

     

  • Oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs. Help develop our employees through course consistency. Continuously drive improvement of learning curriculum design standards, resources and processes.

     

  • Apply creative approaches and instructional methodologies to the design, delivery and evaluation of learning content. Contribute to the creative process as a leader of the design direction in training.

 

  • Understand Love’s strategic goals. Apply those to the creative team, environment, processes and technologies to continuously move the business forward.
     
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand content and learning requirements. Hold creative mood board sessions, produce storyboards and other design vehicles that support the development process.
  • Manage a team of learning and development professionals focused on delivering a high-quality design solution, training support and material.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, feedback and support to your team to continuously enhance individual performance and team capabilities.
     
  • Ensure the professional development of the team. Provide positive and consistent feedback during design review staff reviews and peer review opportunities
     

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Education:

  • 4-year college degree required


    Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in instructional content development and or creative services/marketing

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe software, specifically Adobe Captivate, Microsoft software on both a Mac and PC
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong foundation in problem-solving, analytics, project management principles and tools
  • Knowledge of learning discipline, adult learning design and instructional design methodologies
  • Versatility and strength in both written and verbal communications
  • Ability to take initiative and manage simultaneous deliverables under pressure
  • Positive, collaborative and solutions-focused temperament
  • Technologically adept with the ability to learn new software and systems as needed

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Light travel
