Title: Product Engineering Part Time Student - Dubuque, IA - 38965
Your Responsibilities
John Deere Construction and Forestry, located in Dubuque, IA is seeking Product Development Engineering Part-time students to work side by side with experienced engineers to drive the design and testing of structural and sheet metal components from concept through virtual and physical verification. In addition, you will have the opportunity to:
* Apply problem solving technique to routine problems.
* Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
* Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
* Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of concepts and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and or supplier personnel.
* Learn and apply company engineering procedures and practices and learn about company products.
What It Takes
* Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice.
* Exposure to machines forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit.
* Solid Modeling (such as Creo or Solidworks) through relevant course work or previous experience.
* Pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering
* Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
* Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
* Graduation date of December 2019 or later
* Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
* 16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
* 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
A strong candidate will also have
* Demonstrated project management skills to achieve project milestones.
* Effective communication skills working in a team environment.
* Familiar with machines manufactured by competitors.
