Grande Cheese Company is a cheese and whey manufacturer who is looking to add a Team Manager at our Whey Facility which is wrapping up its plant expansion. We are looking for an individual with operations management, leadership for developing teams and meeting production goals, and looking to contribute to our growing organization that has a focus on Quality Products, Culture, and Social Responsibility.

Experiences that would be ideal in a candidate are team development (coaching/development plans), facilitating CI projects, experience with whey processing equipment, and KPI reporting to name a few.

Description

Operations Management

  • Lead team members in daily manufacturing operations within an assigned area to ensure high standards of performance, quality production, and product & Associate safety.
  • Organize and communicate daily schedule, monitor and coordinate activities in order to meet production requirements, and make decisions and resolve problems on issues with scheduling, equipment, quality, safety, and other production related matters.
  • Manage the performance of the area by meeting or exceeding goals relative to cost, overtime, quality/consistency initiatives, loss reduction, safety, morale, and project implementations.
  • Determine appropriate staffing needs and develop biweekly schedules that minimize and/or eliminate avoidable labor costs related to staffing shortages/overages.
  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures to maximize production efficiency and control costs.
  • Review and analyze production and operating reports to resolve problems, generate ideas, and ensure smooth operation of assigned areas and report results to the management team.
  • Accountable for facility sanitation procedures and compliance.
  • Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, and cleanliness of the work areas.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality programs (HACCP, SQF) and assist in resolving food safety/defense issues. Has back-up responsibilities for, and is backed up by, as defined by the Facility Org Chart and Back-up Responsibilities chart.
  • Develop and achieve understanding and results of performance indicators and metrics.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies and innovative ideas focused on appropriate areas, such as: quality, training and development, processing changes, and changes to structure or redesign.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering personnel, in conjunction with the Plant Manager, relative to modifications of equipment and processes in order to improve production and quality.
  • Ensure all required documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting takes place as is required by law and/or regulatory agencies, (i.e. OSHA, DNR, USDA, FDA, EEOC, DOL, IMS, WDA, SQF, etc.). Respond to requests and work with these agencies as required.

Leadership

 

  • Supervise hourly Associates by means of coaching/mentoring, training, discipline, performance management, conflict resolution, etc., while fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, pride, and a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Communicate expectations to Associates on a regular basis.
  • Provide guidance to facilitate learning and growth, enhance skills & knowledge, and improve performance.
  • Ensure Associate compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Proactively address Associate questions, concerns, or problems.
  • Solicit feedback and recommendations related to procedures, performance, quality, safety, scheduling, labor distribution, cost savings initiatives, and other functional information.
  • Utilize the Kronos system to monitor and approve Associate time records. Approve requests for schedule alterations (such as PTO, schedule changes, etc.).
  • Facilitate area meetings to keep Associates informed on concerns and issues.
  • Accountable for the culture of the area and showing support for the culture in all activities.
  • Utilize the Corrective Action and Disciplinary Due Process systems when necessary in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Conduct Associate Safety and other required training.
  • Maintain Associate documentation for training, safety, job evaluations, orientations, and any other similar requirements.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Associates Degree or better in Operations & Tech Mgmt or related field.

 

Experience

Required

4 years: Four (4) or more years of manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing. Training and/or experience in management/leadership preferred. Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local food and water regulations including CFR, FSMA, PMO and bioterrorism Act.
