Job Description

The Department Manager will provide oversight of day to day operation of their production department to ensure they develop a strong rapport with their employees, use Lean Manufacturing application & principles in an effort to build organizational capability through implementation of the ONE Southwire approach.  They will also be responsible for understanding key areas of responsibility such as Safety, Quality, Material Usage, Scrap, Efficiency, and Resource Utilization. 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

·         Drive the Culture of Zero throughout the department to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors on the property.

·         Manage employee’s skills, knowledge and experience in a way that motivates them to do their best and take ownership of task.

·         Must work strategically with other departments to meet goals and deadlines.

·         Requires a strong passion for OPS principles and ONE Southwire culture.

·         Must ensure that manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.

·         Using Lean Manufacturing Application & Principles to create strategies to solve problems.

·         Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors and ensures they understand deliverables and are provided the necessary resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

·         Develops or revises standard operational and working practices in an effort to create a positive work environment.

·         Remains flexible in an effort to respond to operational needs and changes

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related engineering field preferred along with three years or related experience to Manufacturing.

·         Strong understanding of the ONE Southwire philosophy.

·         Must have outstanding leadership skills.

·         Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
