SUMMARY
The Shop Operator is responsible for processing materials used to make company products, keeping the shop clean and organized, assisting co-workers in all phases of production, shipping/receiving and product delivery. The duties include
but are not limited to set up, programming, and operation of saws, breaks, grinders/sanders, cutting/shear, banding machines, CNC plasma, CNC press brake, CNC band saw and small hand tools, de-burring tools, and other material
handling equipment. Safe operation of a forklift for the movement of steel goods in a steel manufacturing/shop
environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Prepare, move, and load materials onto machinery for processing and/or deliveries
? Cut, shear, punch, thread, grind, and/or debur raw stock material as necessary prior to assembly
? Assist shipping/receiving clerk palletize, package, and process work orders
? Assemble components for products
? Use measuring tape and other tools necessary for layout
? Operate forklift to move and store materials
? Inform supervisor of pending shortages in parts and materials
? Detect defective material/workmanship and report it to the Shop Supervisor
? Maintain and safeguard company owned equipment and tools
? Maintain all work areas in clean and safe condition
? Ensure all completed tasks meet company specified quality standards
? Maintain an accuracy rating of 93% or better
? Experience Operating a CNC Plasma, CNC Press Brake and CNC Band Saw
? Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent plus 6 mo. minimum experience in a metal shop/fabrication environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Fundamental knowledge of welding and manufacturing processes
Fundamental knowledge and application of hand tools and automated machines (i.e. square, tape measure,saw, grinders, de-burring equipment, and forklift)
Ability to read and work off of a tape measure with 100% accuracy
Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision, to assure accurate, complete, and timely completion of work assignments
Ability to stay organized while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Skill and ability to safely operate a forklift while using good judgment
Skill and ability to meet and exceed the company’s Standards of Performance

Fabricator of Infrastructure Parts and Accessories

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language
Ability to express oneself verbally in English with clarity
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to accurately use, interpret, and apply numbers from a tape measure to product manufacturing
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to assume responsibility in situations requiring action
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sensory
Vision – Ability to see clearly printed material at close range (12 inches or less). Corrective lens permissible. Ability to
distinguish between and among colors. Ability to exercise depth perception to determine space and distance
relationships. Ability to exercise peripheral vision to be aware of objects within a large area while eyes are focused on one object.
Hearing – Ability to hear in one or both ears so that verbal communication can be received, understood and acted upon.
Exposure to loud noises related to metal fabrication.
Smell – Exposure to welding fumes or airborne particles
Physical Activity – Ability to perform extensive physical activities of a primarily productive/technical nature (i.e. walking, reaching, bending, lifting, carrying). Use of both arms and hands required. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach
and manipulate tools and materials with the fingers. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Position requires ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Outdoors and indoor, well-lighted shop environment subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations. Work performed near moving mechanical parts, in the presence of welding fumes or airborne particles, and loud noises associated with manufacturing.
DRESS CODE
Steel toed boots are required. Safety equipment and hearing protection are provided for this position.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS
Normal/regular work schedule is 40 hours per week.
Shift will either be Shift 2 – Monday through Friday 6:30am – 3:00pm –or- Shift 2/3 - 8:00am – 4:30pm. Overtime hours
may be required. Your schedule will be confirmed upon hire. Company reserves the right to change shift schedules at any time; proper advance notice of not less than one week will be given.
