JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Tax Reporting and Analysis manages a team responsible for the reporting and analysis of entity financial information to support consolidated tax reporting and other external reporting requirements.  The information is utilized by the Corporate Tax department to complete the company’s major tax compliance and reporting requirements and to support the company’s tax planning strategies and initiatives.  This position  serves as the liaison to the tax department and will lead initiatives related to the reporting in support of consolidated tax reporting processes, goals and objectives.  This position is also responsible for developing strategies and implementing best practices that will enable operational excellence and create flexibility for future business objectives related to entity reporting and analysis to support tax reporting processes. 

 

SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Expected Contributions
  • Manage reporting and analysis of entity financial information to support consolidated tax reporting for the company’s consolidated foreign and domestic legal entities (800+). Key reporting deliverables include:
    • Pre-Tax Book Income (PTBI)
    • Local vs USGAAP analysis (supports Deferred Tax Asset calculation)
    • Section 956 and 385
    • Unremitted Earnings
    • Intercompany Interest analysis
    • Return to Provision Reconciliation
    • Country by Country reporting
    • Global Detail Fee Analysis Report

Ensure timely and actionable information provided, adhere to defined deadlines throughout the year and respond to inquiries timely.

  • Manage the quarterly and annual external filings with the Department of Commerce (DOC) and respond to inquiries from the Department of Commerce. 
  • Responsible for the management of the company’s Buy In/Cost Share Intercompany process.  Includes preparation of the calculation, billing and related reconciliations. 
  • Manage a team of finance and accounting professionals, prioritize projects and workload of the team and its individual members, and establish deadlines around those priorities.
  • Leverage Marriott’s technology investments, including PeopleSoft, Hyperion Financial Management, and associated reporting tools, to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of relevant processes.
  • Partner and collaborate with CSA, Tax leadership and stakeholders to evaluate processes to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency in support of changing business needs.  Draw on diverse sources of information to develop and implement business improvement opportunities. Improvements may be in the form of enhanced internal controls, increased leverage of technology, elimination of redundancies, or other changes that add value.
  • Continuously develop, challenge and improve the processes and internal controls around reporting for PTBI, Local vs USGAAP, Buy In/Cost Share and Unremitted Earnings, specifically as they relate to Sarbanes-Oxley, to include management of related narratives and documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and support key corporate initiatives. 
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years finance/accounting experience. International Accounting experience is a plus.
  • Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills/knowledge.
  • Proven manager with ability to lead a team toward the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Experience in a complex accounting environment including multiple subsidiaries, currencies and bases of accounting strongly preferred.
  • Experience in PeopleSoft and Hyperion Financial Management strongly preferred.

Education or Certification

  • B.S Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • CPA or advanced degree preferred.
