JOB SUMMARY

Accountable for the integrity of the zTPF Control Program, creating and maintaining internally developed Systems programs, support of IBM programs for TPF, database functionality and application support within the MARSHA system.  Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning for operations support and strategic planning. Closely interact with the MARSHA Comms team, Middleware Services, Supporting Systems and Development team, (tertiary operational level) support for the Coverage team, DBMARSHA, Change Control, Applications Development and the PSS group. In addition to these core responsibilities, members of this team provide technical expertise and consultation for IT Applications Build and Run teams as well as to senior Business sponsors in the design & review of Business/IT plans for effective deployment of existing technology assets and/or potential new technologies. This consultation includes participation in, and review of external vendors and/or Business partner’s proposals. Other duties include; Credit Card Security support as mandated by PCI regulations, providing forensic analysis for Credit Card activity. 24x7 on-call support by all team members for MARSHA production, test and development systems. Monitors multiple projects by Service Provider to successful completion, maintaining scope within the time and budget constraints.

 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 

Education and Experience

 
Required:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification
  • 10+ years’ experience in zTPF and related mainframe technology
  • 10+ years experience of using and supporting zVM mainframe infrastructure
  • 10+ years experience of coding changes to the zTPF Control Program
  • Excellent understanding of change management and testing requirements, techniques, and tools.
  • Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate
  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.
  • Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products.
 
Preferred:
  • Graduate degree
  • Technical certifications
  • Technical leadership experience in a sourced environment
 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Provide On-Call duties on a rotating basis within the Coverage team,
  • Provides leadership, oversight, governance and strategic direction related to zTPF Mainframe Services.
  • Participates in the creation of the Marriott Enterprise Architecture Roadmap, both in the tactical and strategic tracks, with emphasis on those systems and functions which are mainframe based.
  • Provides technical leadership, oversight, standardization and validation of the effectiveness of the zTPF infrastructure mainframe servers.
  • Educates internal and external users about mainframe technologies to continually improve the knowledge and skill-base of the organization on how best to operate and support the infrastructure services.
  • Provides documents with a focus on how services will be leveraged in the solution architecture.
  • Work closely with all enterprise architects to facilitate alignment of plans with what is being delivered. Institutes governance based on best practices and ensure proper alignment to projects and major initiatives.
  • Leads analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine the potential impact on the mainframe architecture.
  • Consults with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify Service Services to accommodate project needs.
  • Consults with architecture teams to identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate infrastructure needs. Oversees the documentation of all architecture design and analysis work.
  • Develops and delivers long-term strategic goals for technology architecture vision and standards in conjunction with Service Providers, data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Creates short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall technology management roadmap. Conducts technology life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
  • Develops and promotes technology management methodologies and standards.
  • Defines requirements for Service Providers to
    • Address technology-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration.
    • Develop and implement key components as needed to create testing criteria in order to guarantee the fidelity and performance of technology architecture.
    • Maintain a current and accurate view of the larger technology picture.
    • Track technology quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement in collaboration with the Service Providers.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving mainframe systems.
  • Coordinate, schedule and facilitate training session with various groups on various topics relating to system resource usage and control when developing system programs.
  • Provide input, design, development and implementation strategies and initiatives for the future maintenance of a world class zTPF System to maintain Marriott International’s competitive advantage.
  • Development, maintenance, and third level operational/ production support of the zTPF platform.
  • Installation of zTPF PUT updates and new releases of zTPF, as well as enhancements to IBM source code in support of Marriott’s unique requirements. Evaluation of newly released zTPF features and functionality to determine strategic and tactical uses.
  • Tracking zTPF issues, monitoring for critical fixes and evaluating their risks as well as applying the updates and documenting the changes.
  • Problem resolution, dump analysis, risk analysis, outage recovery, diagnostic software and tools development. Maintenance of IBM & Marriott-unique zTPF Documentation Source and System Error Database. Diagnostic software and tools development for automation and other troubleshooting and research capabilities. Support of Marriott Business Recovery process activities and related documentation.
  • Principle zTPF Application interface for software architecture, communications protocols, and the development cycle.
  • Provide services, development, and support of the programming languages, operating system, communications protocols, and tools used by all zTPF Developers working on the Marriott zTPF platform.
