POSITION SUMMARY
 

The BMSC Business Consulting team provides high-quality consulting and strategic leadership for all departments within Marriott International (e.g., IT, Sales, Brand, Development, Operations, Marketing, Digital, Finance).  The Director is responsible for working across the organization to produce results on projects and activities may include formulating strategy, conducting industry research and analysis, design/reengineering business processes, project management, change management and measurement.  The position will actively collaborate with Executive Stakeholders on projects and clients may include Senior Executives, Vice Presidents and Directors for any department/business within Marriott International.  This position will supervise indirect reports to complete studies and related client assignments. 

 
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Consulting Engagements
  • Provides day-to-day project management support to ensure engagements are delivered on time and on budget and achieves client satisfaction with project delivery and business results. 
  • Assists clients with strategy formulation efforts, including necessary research, analysis and development of data-driven recommendations. 
  • Provides process re-engineering services, including facilitation of design sessions, documentation of processes, and identification of improvements. 
  • Creates high-impact deliverables to communicate project results. 
  • Develops change management strategies to implement project recommendations and affect change. 
  • Measures, evaluates and reports the key results of the implemented solutions and captured benefits.
 

MANAGEMENT COMPETENCIES

Leadership and Client Management
  • Partner with clients to understand and resolve key strategic business challenges.
  • Lead, oversee and serve as a point of contact for large project teams of multiple, cross-functional individuals to ensure the success of the project. 
  • Serve as key customer relations manager for clients, addressing special needs, either personally or by delegating to the appropriate project team member.
  • Provide input to Vice President in developing project strategies, approaches and deliverables.

  • Follow-up on tasks and ensure project milestones are met in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Assist Vice President in managing project resources and budget (review, process and track internal/external vendor costs and customer billing to forecast final project cost and recovery).
  • Skilled in project management with a heightened attention to detail, time management, resource organization, and effective communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with team members, internal stakeholders and external constituents; and ability to influence change through these relationships.

CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED
REQUIRED:
  • 3 - 5 years of external consulting experience with major consulting firm.
  • Strong process management, influencing and problem resolution skills.
  • Expertise and proven track record in managing complex, multifunctional initiatives
  • Experience developing and executing multi-year plans.
  • Experience/knowledge in reengineering complex processes.
  • Proven success in managing consulting projects, achieving objectives, effecting change, team management and meeting facilitation.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in providing direction and performing responsibilities via influence ability (as opposed to line management authority)
  • Ability to persuade and influence others, including those at senior organizational levels

Education and Professional Certification

  • Minimum undergraduate degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in medium-or large-scale project leadership
  • Major consulting firm experience
  • Prior consulting experience
