JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Advertising Technology and Media Network will help Marriott’s Global Marketing organization realize its vision of delivering data driven, customer centric, omni-channel marketing programs by selecting, deploying and evolving the company’s advertising technology platform and media network. 
 
This role will collaborate with partners across the organization and our media agency partners to understand stakeholder needs and challenges, define the vision and features for the advertising technology platform and media network, actively manage a product roadmap, and frequently communicate progress against both with partners and leadership.
 
The Senior Manager will keep our products innovating out in front of our competitive set by staying current on emerging technologies and business strategies in the programmatic ad buying, ad tech and related industries. They will be the company’s resident expert on the purpose and proper use of DSP, SSP, DCO, and other ad tech products and functionality. They will ensure their products are tightly integrated with the rest of the Personalization and Marketing Platform through constant collaboration with other product peers on the team and alignment of roadmaps.

This role will champion the vision for the broader Personalization and Marketing Platform outside of the department, lead and manage cross functional projects and/or product development teams, and work with numerous different departments to realize this vision. 
 
Frequent collaborators include Digital Personalization and other parts of Global Marketing, Customer Experience and Innovation, other Digital Product Management teams, Project Management/Scrum masters, IT Plan, IT Build, and Enterprise Architecture. 
 
This role reports to the Senior Director, Personalization and Marketing Platform.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Preferred
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major and 4+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance; OR
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience in of relevant professional experience in marketing or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.
  • MBA or other graduate-level degree in relevant field preferred
  • 4+ years product management and/or digital marketing experience
  • 2+ years experience with AdTech platforms (e.g. DSP, SSP, DCO, Ad Server, etc.) is strongly desired
  • Experience working with Personalization, CRM, and/or ecommerce technology preferred
  • Knowledge and practice of core principals of software development lifecycles – preference for knowledge in Agile practices
  • Proven skill in presentation, negotiation and persuasion of stakeholders
  • Proven skill in balancing product capability development with business risk management 
  • Proven skill in leading and working across multiple and distinct functional organizations (e.g. IT, International, Marketing) 
  • Strong ability to speak with technical and creative teams and translate these areas to business teams, with an understanding of impacts
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, but within a large, complex business

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Lead Development and Delivery of a World-Class Personalization and Marketing Platform

Product Strategy
  • Develop and actively forward-manage the product roadmap for assigned product(s) including the Advertising Technology and Media Network
  • Serve as a key business SME and point of contact for assigned product(s) including the Advertising Technology and Media Network
  • Monitor the competitive market place and quantify new market opportunities
  • Help align the Personalization and Marketing Platform product roadmap with the roadmaps for various product teams including Data Strategy, CRM Platform, Content Management, M.com and Mobile App, and API among others while also balancing inputs from Personalization Activation and broader Global Marketing initiatives
  • Keep current on emerging technologies and business strategies that can enable increased relevancy for the guest across Marriott’s digital products
  • Collaborate with other Product and Platform teams to leverage integrated and cross- product capabilities and align roadmaps
Capability Analysis
  • Analyze and benchmark product performance in the marketplace
  • Continuously groom and ensure product backlog is aligned with current business priorities
  • Identify optimization opportunities to drive continuous product management
  • Identify and create mitigation plans for data and technology gaps that enable and accelerate future product capability development
  • Partner with other Global Marketing and Product teams to balance trade-offs in performance, features and speed-to-market 
Development and Delivery
  • Partner closely with IT Plan, IT Build and Enterprise Architecture to align business capabilities to technology and data strategies 
  • Act as the main point of contact for IT Plan, IT Build and Enterprise Architecture to manage the technical planning and for Digital Project Management/Scrum and IT Build on the implementation of product capabilities
  • Drive product development through the entire product management lifecycle, from prioritization to release and sprint planning, manage business acceptance criteria, develop user stories, scenarios, and requirements
  • Partner with IT Plan to align any product development system dependencies with key platform initiatives and with other efforts in progress across digital channels including Marriott.com, Marriott apps, email, and paid media among others
  • Act as end-user advocate and ensure balanced decisions are made that consider development and support costs, risk, end-user experience, ongoing maintainability and reliability, and stakeholder needs across all digital business units
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination across business, design and engineering teams to manage the scope of each product launch for on time, on budget delivery of features
  • Define, document and drive key product business metrics and reporting
  • Help the Senior Director, Personalization and Marketing Platforms guide budget planning and manage product budget and timelines
Activation Readiness & Support
  • Work with the Personalization Activation team to define, document and drive a baseline of key business metrics and reporting to ensure high product performance
  • Partner with Data Strategy, CRM Platform, IT and other development partners to ensure that the required capabilities and data are available within the timeframe required for activation of key personalization campaigns 
  • Partner with the Digital Personalization Activation team to support go-to-market launch plans and continuous optimization tactics that leverage current product and platform capabilities
  • Assess and define any immediate capability gaps across current activation needs and prioritize into product roadmap backlog
