Job Description


The Director of Housekeeping & Laundry will provide the leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of the Housekeeping and Laundry department. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing, controlling, coordinating, and monitoring $10 Million budget to include staffing levels, payroll and supplies as well as all phases of Housekeeping and Laundry operations to ensure that the resort provides a clean and inviting environment.  
  • Forecast, create, and monitor Department budget to ensure it remains with established budgetary guidelines.
  • Monitor department progress to assure all department goals, as outlined in the Performance Management Plans, are being completed in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Responsible for monitoring consumption of and authorizing the ordering of supplies and equipment.
  • Accountable for all department job related activities (cleanliness of villa interior and exterior and cleanliness of Public areas, Laundry Operations).  Ensure everyone has a keen eye on preventative maintenance at all times. 
  • Ensure that department communication occurs effectively and consistently, hold daily pre-shift meetings to communicate all issues necessary to enhance management and associate's performance, updates, technical performance, and project completion.  Maintain open and constant communication with     department management within established goals and guidelines. Identify and respond appropriately to trends and/or areas of improvement.  
  • Support, coach, and assist department Managers with associate evaluations, encourage Managers to build Coaching Culture to enhance quality of performance of Supervisors and associates.  
  • Work closely with the Human Resources department to ensure a productive, participative, and comfortable work environment in which all employees are valued and treated lawfully and consistently, and to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal employment and labor laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Equal Pay Act, and Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

Job Requirement

  • High school Diploma required, with preferred secondary education and vacation ownership experience. CEH desired or working toward receiving Certification.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in hotel management with at least five years in housekeeping management at progressively higher levels of responsibility.  
  • Background working with contract labor and vendor relations is preferred.
  • Show a sense of urgency, and keep an open mind to new ideas. Coaching for success. Remain aware of trends and new developments in the industry that could be beneficial to the department.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the financial, accounting and payroll principles.
  • Ability to supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers.
