The Westin Portland Harborview, a Marriott brand, and New Castle Hotels & Resorts' managed property is currently seeking a Spa Director to join our team. The Westin Portland Harborview is the premier hotel and event location in downtown Portland's Arts District, featuring over 15,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, 289 guest rooms, a fine dining restaurant and the iconic Top of The East Lounge.  This historic building has truly transformed itself over the last 90 years and now provides a classy and sophisticated meeting place for all visitors to gather.


POSITION SUMMARY: The main function of this position is to manage staff, to ensure safe usage of equipment, profitability of Spa operations and delivery of quality spa services to our guests, all while aligning the outlet with the Westin brand.


ACCOUNTABILITIES: To ensure the smooth operation of the spa and safety and comfort of all guests/ members while using the facilities. Ability to perform all duties within spa operations.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate preferred
  • Previous customer service & hotel experience preferred
  • Massage and or Esthetician License preferred
  • Must have at least 2 years of Spa supervisory or management experience.
  • New spa opening experience highly desirable

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

  • Computer, telephone, 2 way radios, files and copiers
  • Credit Card machine & cash drawer
  • Appointment booking software

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Under variable temperature conditions
  • Under variable noise levels
  • Outdoors/Indoors
  • Around chemicals, fumes and or odor hazards
  • Around dust and/or mite hazards

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
  • Ability to create & modify spa services menu based on client need, market demand and industry trending
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working, and compliance with any OSHA required guidelines
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Be knowledgeable on products and services
  • Ensure all areas are clean and organized
  • Manage and motivate all Spa associates
  • Manage staff including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching & counseling, promoting, scheduling, and terminating
  • Visually observe performance and coach to ensure staff compliance with hotel policies and specifications regarding rules, safety uniform and job standards
  • Interact with customers
  • Supervise and maintain spa supplies including retail product inventory, linen, and amenity products
  • Participate in organizing local marketing and packages for spa services to improve sales
  • Partner with Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager to create overall spa strategy, to be aligned with the operating budget
  • Maintain loyalty and integrity with outstanding services
  • Collect deposits and account for all charges incurred by guests
  • Distribute, store and take inventory of items and equipment as necessary
  • Check and respond to email communications in a timely fashion
  • Promote and sell spa/salon service and retail products
  • Ensures safety regulations are followed
  • Report and follows up on any guest incidents
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local OSHA, health, and operational guidelines
