Specific Job Summary

The HR manager will provide human resource services to a customer base for all headquarters and above property associates. Clients include HR Generalists, managers, and associates who are located within the Marriott Headquarters or satellite buildings, Regional Offices or in a remote or home office. This position supports the Senior HR Managers and the Director of Associate Relations in business-as usual and project initiatives. This job will require prior experience in handling all types of associate relations matters.

Specific Job Contributions

Ability to meet or exceed all Service Level Agreements and provide excellent customer service while performing and/or providing the following:

▪ Responsible for monitoring and tracking associate relations issues including resolution and follow-up utilizing our Case Management Tracking System - Ethics point

▪ Respond timely to questions, requests, and concerns from associates and management regarding company and Human Resources programs, policies, and guidelines

▪ Accountable for determining and recommending appropriate disciplinary action, partners with managers to draft progressive discipline documentation, and is responsible for reviewing the documentation for accuracy and consistency, and verifying all supportive documentation

▪ Utilizes an “open door” policy to acknowledge associates problems or concerns in a timely manner

▪ Responsible for answering the team line and follow up with the inquiries

▪ Assist management in evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating and coaching associates

▪ Assist Sr. Manager and Director with managing the job elimination process including reviewing the business justification, risk assessment and necessary approvals

▪ Manage the Smart Flex/Flexible Work Arrangements process

▪ Maintain highest level of confidentiality of proprietary materials and information

▪ Partner with Sr. Manager to conduct investigations around allegations of harassment, unfair employment practices, BIL calls etc.

▪ Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with all levels of the organization

▪ Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of the organization

▪ Serve as a resource/consultant to managers and associates in matters concerning:

- Guarantee of Fair Treatment
- Performance Review content
- Performance Review appeals
- Job elimination plans/issues
- Smart Flex/Flexible Work Arrangements
- Workplace investigations
- Engagement Survey analysis and action plans
- Conflict management
- Policy interpretation
- Conduct HQ orientation sessions as department expert

▪ Assisting Senior HR managers and Director in complex associate relations and conflict management issues

▪ Able to facilitate engagement survey group sessions, summarize results and assist with the creation of the action plans

▪ Works with the unemployment services provider to respond to unemployment claims. Attends (as needed) unemployment hearings to ensure the company is properly represented

▪ Conducts exit interviews when requested by the HR Generalist, manager or associate. Looks for trends and summarizes for HR Generalist and Sr. Leaders

▪ Keeps HR Generalist involved with issues within their respective areas

▪ Be familiar with, communicate and provide guidance on HR-related initiatives

▪ Other duties as required and assigned

Specific Candidate Profile

Successful candidate will have:

▪ Ability to prioritize issues in a fast-paced and changing environment

▪ Ability to create, critique, edit and deliver all types of progressive discipline documentation

▪ Ability to communicate and mediate conversations at all levels within the organization

▪ Ability to handle difficult situations – influence without authority

▪ A proven track record of strong customer relationship management skills

▪ Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (EEO, FMLA, worker’s comp, etc.) and the ability to resolve routine issues surrounding these laws through investigation and consulting

▪ Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
▪ Strong verbal and writing skills

▪ General knowledge of Marriott HR systems (PeopleSoft, On-Demand, Marrpay, etc.).

▪ Skilled in facilitating meetings

▪ Strong knowledge of ADA, LOA, and AWA guidelines and requirements

Education/Experience

▪ College Degree required
▪ Associate Relations experience
▪ 6 years in exempt level human resources/related position
▪ SPHR/PHR preferred
