Position Summary
 

Treasury Accounting Services (“TAS”) is a headquarter-based accounting department responsible for the accounting and reporting relating to Marriott’s investment, development, joint venture, foreign exchange and international banking activities. The Assistant Manager, Banking Group, will assist in the accounting and financial reporting for Marriott’s foreign currency hedges and derivative transactions.  Additionally, the position will support the department in partnering with multiple stakeholders to ensure delivery of department deliverables.  This position reports to the Senior Manager, Banking Group.

 
CLS Expected Contributions and Responsibilities
 
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the enterprise-wide accounting and reporting for foreign currency transactions and financial statement translations to ensure compliance with ASC 830, Foreign Currency Matters. 
  • Support the department in evaluating foreign currency hedging transactions to determine the appropriate accounting treatment under ASC 815, Hedge Accounting.
  • Support the department in gathering information for periodic hedge reporting, including disclosures within forms 10-Q and 10-K, and quarterly hedge committee presentations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in researching and applying complex accounting concepts with a focus on advising and resolving enterprise-wide questions and issues.
  • Maintain systems and controls to ensure compliance with Marriott International policy (MIP 66) reporting requirements relating to foreign exchange.
  • Support internal and external audit (Ernst & Young) requests regarding foreign currency transactions, foreign currency hedging transactions, and currency translation adjustments.
  • Support the assessment of functional currency determinations for new international subsidiaries and branches.
  • Act as a key contributor in the department’s continuous business process improvement efforts.
  • Assist with accounting research and special projects as assigned.
  • All other tasks as assigned

Specific Candidate Profile

 
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
  • Three or more years of progressive job experience in accounting/finance field
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with strong focus on spreadsheet applications
  • International accounting experience a plus, but not required
  • PeopleSoft general ledger experience a plus
  • High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and integrity
