Job Description 


The Group Sales Manager handles incoming leads within parameters and maximizes revenue through increased bookings. Actively up sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Aligns customer profile with the appropriate product by aligning customer preference with brand integrity,; Achieves personal and team related revenue goals.  Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery in accordance with brand standards.

JOB FAMILY CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Sales and Marketing Management:  Focuses on and is responsible for building the units top line revenue through the solicitation and closing of group meeting business from a designated territory.  Develops and implements a sales strategy that utilizes third party resources, on-property sales resources and leverages all property sales engines to deliver results. Effectively organizes sales activities including prospecting, sales trip planning and execution, trade show participation and other available means to attract business opportunities. Works with DOSM, revenue management and operations department heads to ensure business opportunities are aligned with the overall hotel plan. 

Revenue Management:  In deployed markets, works with Revenue Management to align revenue opportunities with designated segment strategies for rooms, food and beverage and associated group revenues. 

Guest Satisfaction:  Ensures sales and marketing information provided to the Operations departments is timely, accurate and enables property to meet or exceed guest expectations, create customer loyalty and grow market share.  Ensures execution of brand service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all Sales processes and continually focuses on improving guest satisfaction.

Human Resources:  Creates and sustains a work environment that embraces the brands culture, ensures fair and equitable treatment and associate satisfaction to enable business success.

Financial Management:  Develops and manages a personal sales plan to achieve or exceed revenue goals.  

JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Achieve budgeted goals by executing sales and activities within assigned market segment.
  • Handle all sales to domestic & international clients for groups and transient generated by travel agencies and corporations.
  • Acts as a liaison, monitors productivity, claims, creates incentive programs and awards, monitor special requests, between the Hotel and the GSO/GSA, airlines, wholesalers, banks, incentive houses, etc.
  • Provides weekly sales calls reports to DOS/DOSM.
  • Generates special marketing plans, promotional material, newsletters and reports for the Domestic and International markets.
  • Manages and organizes FAM trips, press visits, site inspections, client entertainment, special awards, etc.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS (Continued)
  • Travel to foreign countries to promote our hotel and increase sales, participate in trade shows, sales blitz and sales missions, with corresponding follow ups.
  • Identifies new markets and sales opportunities globally.
  • Creates and conducts worldwide presentations for travel agencies and corporations about hotels property and services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Develops data and recommends programs to meet clients needs.
  • Complete administrative follow-ups, communication with event management
  • Contact in house guests to foster additional business or repeat bookings
  • Meet and exceed customer expectations by ensuring department provides exceptional service
  • Maintain proper flow of information within the hotel by reviewing sales work 
  • Attend staff meetings and sales meetings. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other  associates to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Environmental & Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, sit, lift, use finger dexterity, and have visual and hearing acuity.
  • Follow detailed departmental guidelines.
  • Generally utilize personal computer with word processing and spreadsheet software. Typically operate standard office equipment such as telephone, fax, calculator, computer and photocopier.
  • Working conditions are generally good with little discomfort.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent. 
  • Hotel Sales Experience. 
  • Outgoing personality. 
  • Marriott background a plus.
  • PMS, NGS and MARSHA experience preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of food and beverage compositions, understanding of contract managements and legalities, DOC 2000. Operational knowledge and appreciation of operational challenges.
  • Computer literate, excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Good organizational skills. Ability to explain instructions, procedures or information to other effectively. Ability to work well under pressure.
