Job Summary

Treasury Accounting Services (“TAS”) is a headquarter-based department responsible for the accounting and reporting of several Marriott International (MI) financing and investing activities.

 

The Senior Accountant of the TAS Banking Group, will be responsible for the proper accounting, reporting, and controls of MI’s international cash and debt portfolio.  The position requires a thorough understanding of MI’s cash processes and debt arrangements.  This position will support the department in partnering with multiple stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of department deliverables.  The job responsibilities within this position may vary over time based on the needs of the department.  This position reports to the Senior Manager of the TAS Banking Group.

CLS Expected Contributions and Responsibilities

Cash:

  • Ensure the accurate accounting and reporting of cash transactions using a cash system – Treasury Workstation.
  • Support the periodic reporting of international cash balances used in repatriation efforts of the company and distributed to key business partners, including senior management.
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of cash balances as reported in Marriott’s general ledger system, and assist in the identification and research of unreconciled balances.
  • Partner with different departments within global finance organization to ensure cash transactions are accurately reported on the ledger.

Debt:

  • Prepare standard recurring and ad hoc internal reporting packages in support of MI financial statements, Committee reports and Board reports.
  • Participate in the long range planning, budgeting and forecasting processes relating to debt, including periodic bridging to actual results.
  • Manage ad hoc requests, inquiries and issues relating to debt accounting, administration and reporting.

General:

  • Maintain systems and controls to ensure compliance with Marriott International policy reporting requirements relating to debt and cash accounts.
  • Prepare standard recurring and ad hoc internal reporting packages in support of internal and external requirements (Ernst & Young audit and SOX requests, MI financial statements, Committee reports and Board reports).
  • Assist in the process of continually improving accounting and reporting processes and any research, special projects, and cross-training opportunities as assigned.

Specific Candidate Profile

 

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
  • Two/Three or more years of progressive job experience in accounting/finance field
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with strong focus on spreadsheet applications
  • International accounting experience a plus, but not required
  • Treasury workstation experience a plus, but not required
  • PeopleSoft general ledger experience preferred
  • Proven contribution within a multi-task environment
  • High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and integrity
