Job Summary

As a member of the Finance Business Partnership (FBP) for FOCEHL (Finance, Operations, Communications, Executive Office, Human Resources and Law), the Manager, Consolidations will support the FBP in the management and execution of financial management processes related to the consolidation of Continental Administrative costs into Marriott International’s financial and management reporting processes. He/She will also act as the point of contact for the Continental (Americas, Europe, MEA and AP) Finance teams to assist them in achieving their   business objectives related to admin costs. Specifically, he/she will:

   Support the ongoing monitoring, measuring and forecasting of consolidated Continent Admin costs and develop and implement actionable recommendations to address identified business challenges and opportunities in this area.

   Support the timely and efficient execution of key financial business processes across the Continents, specifically managing and executing against activities for one or more regions and the consolidated activities for each respective Continent

 

The Manager, Consolidations will also provide proactive support to ensure the financial and accounting information, reporting, and analysis needs of the respective Continents are met through effective partnerships with the various Global Finance groups. He/she will establish and maintain strong relationships with these Global Finance groups and Continent Finance staff to help effectively address business issues, identify and implement appropriate solutions, influence, as appropriate, business decisions, and improve overall business results.


Expected Contribution

Overall

   Support efforts to monitor and measure the financial performance of Continent teams and its applicable programs and services to help ensure results are aligned with business objectives.

- Partner with Continental/Regional Finance teams to prepare Admin monthly forecast and actual cycle reporting and analysis , utilizing various financial systems including  but not limited to PSGL, MIGL, and Hyperion and partnering with Marriott Business Services (MBS) and other Global Finance groups, as appropriate.

- Contribute knowledge of the business environment within each Continent/Region and/or obtain necessary information to support the completeness and accuracy of financial information and explain trends and/or variations in results vs. expectations.

- Manage the overall consolidation of Continent Admin operating results and analysis for inclusion in the broader enterprise admin reporting.

- Using standard and customized reports, KPIs and other data, assist in the development and implementation of actionable recommendations to appropriately address identified business challenges and opportunities.

- Establish and nurture relationships with International Lodging staff to ensure information flow is timely and appropriate to effect attention to business challenges and opportunities.

- Where applicable, ensure knowledge and understanding of funding and cost allocation methodologies for Continent/Regional programs, services and initiatives.

- Monitor and analyze programs, services and initiatives costs to ensure compliance with funding and cost allocation methodologies, to determine over/under recovery positions, and to assess adequacy of chargeout rates.  Assist in the development and implementation of recommended changes to chargeout rates, as required.

- Partner with MBS and other Global Finance groups, as appropriate, to ensure service delivery metrics are met and operational challenges are resolved timely. Maintain status checklists and distribution lists for month and period end cycles

- Partner with the appropriate Global Finance team members to develop and/or modify reporting tools to ensure Continent Admin operating results, programs and services funding and costs are accurately reflected in company financials.

   Support the timely and effective execution of key financial processes within Continental structure. Partner with Continent team leads, discipline staff, and MBS, to execute both the business and enterprise-admin annual budget and long range planning processes.

- Coordinate and/or prepare Continent/Regional Admin annual planning cycles including budgets, budget spreads and annual long range plan for one or more regions, ensuring, ensuring appropriate attention is given to the completeness and accuracy of the financial information

- Manage the overall consolidation and submission of Continent Admin budgets and long range plans for inclusion in the broader enterprise admin reporting.

- Ensure in-depth knowledge and understanding of current processes and tools to facilitate serving as a key resource to the Continent Finance staff. Maintain status checklists and distribution lists for annual planning cycles.

- Lead and/or participate in review meetings with Continent staff to support presentation of budgets and long range plans for approvals.

- Prepare financial information packages as required.

   Support the finance and accounting work related to the development and implementation of new programs, services and initiatives. Engage relevant Global Finance groups to operationalize new programs, services and initiatives (e.g., new department set up, development of supplemental budgets, etc.)

   Perform ad-hoc analyses for and/or provide information to and advise, as appropriate, Continent Finance leadership, and other Global Finance groups on the business environment and key operating issues within the discipline.

   Identify and help implement process improvement opportunities that interface with Global Finance groups.

   Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

 

Candidate Profile

Experience

   Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience

   Lodging/ hospitality industry experience preferred

   Experience in a multi-currency, multi-GAAP environment

 

Education or Certification

   Baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

   Solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

   Knowledge of Marriott accounting policies and procedures and systems

   Understanding of Marriott management and franchisee contracts

   Excellent PC skills: advance knowledge of MS Excel

   Knowledge of PeopleSoft, nVision, Hyperion Reporting

   Strong financial acumen

   Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
