IT Business Analyst (Long-term Contract) (18007162) Description

The IT Business Analyst works with Business and Product Owners throughout Chipotle to identify, gather, and document business and functional requirements for IT implementations. On Agile projects, s/he serves as the Product Owner Proxy on cross-functional Scrum delivery teams, ensuring that the requirements are effectively documented, well understood, and executed in a way that exceed stakeholder expectations. For all projects, the Analyst acts as an effective liaison between business departments, various IT teams, and external vendors providing IT-related services.


Responsibilities

In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


•Identifying, gathering, and writing business and functional requirements by breaking features down into user stories and serving as the liaison between business owners and Scrum-based software development teams

•Participating in release planning by working with business owners to gather and articulate all of the features needed for a successful project implementation

•Educating business and product owners on the agile methodology and an effective cadence for identifying features, and turning those features into user stories that support development cycle

•Adhering to the standards for all project related artifacts including, but not limited to, business and functional requirement specification documents, user interface guides, use case specification, business and system process flows

•Identifying and surfacing gaps in requirements, cross-department coordination needs, and risks to implementations; working with the right stakeholders to mitigate those risks

•Developing product ownership by growing an understanding of applications and interdependencies with other corporate and external systems, business processes, and data; identifying opportunities for documentation of tribal knowledge for long-term organizational ownership

•Working closely with our business partners and delivery teams on release planning, feature grooming, user story grooming, and sprint planning

•Responsible for user story acceptance in the sprint; verifying all of the user acceptance criteria has been met by the sprint team and the implementation matches the intent of the user story

•Presenting the implementation of features to product owners and obtaining acceptance of features from those owners

•Leveraging experience to recommend industry standard and best practice solutions; advocating for user experience best practices


The ideal candidate will:

•Possess strong requirements gathering and analysis skills for both business and functional requirements

•Have experience working on an Agile development team and advocating for the business owners, product owners, and users throughout software implementations

•Be able to communicate effectively with external business partners and internal teams to participate in the delivery of project requirements

•Work effectively with other colleagues

•Listen effectively and communicate with candor and honesty

•Possess the ability to acquire, compile, and evaluate large amounts of data

•Be able to triage problems in a practiced, measured, best practice

•Be able to multitask effectively

•Have experience working with remote (near- or off-shore) teams

•Possess a B.A./B.S. in MIS or Computer Science, or an equivalent in education and experience

•Be a Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Product Owner, or have equivalent work experience

•Have five (5) or more years of IT and software development work experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of Agile software development experience

•Enjoy minimal travel
