The Job

As the Human Resources Generalist for the Ace Hardware Corporation's Care Center, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HR operations of the Fort Myers Ace Care Center with oversight from the corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, IL. With the guidance from the Corporate HR Manager, and the Care Center Manager at the Fort Meyers location, this role will be accountable for responsibilities in the following functional areas: assist with the recruitment process, employee services and events, minor employee relations (including coaching, performance management, corrective action and separations), employee and manager training and development, benefits guidance, basic compensation questions and organizational development assistance.

What you'll do
  • Begin to develop and work to grow and maintain successful working relationships with Fort Myers Care Center team in order to guide and provide effective HR processes, advice and support to the call center.
  • Provide proactive coaching, consultation and direction to upper management, team leads, & employees in areas of staffing, employee relations, policy administration, performance management, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Respond with a high sense of urgency and professionalism to all requests.
  • With the guidance of the Corporate HR Manager and Care Center Manager, investigate employee relations issues and provide recommendations to determine the best corrective action solution for each unique situation.
  • Participate in final termination decision-making meetings.
  • Respond to all employee relations issues / concerns and conduct employee relations investigations as required.
  • Assist manager and employees in interpreting basic policy questions.
  • Partner with Managers and Supervisors on performance management / coaching discussions.
  • Partner with Care Center's Training Specialist and conduct basic training for employees related to HR practices – New Hire Orientation, Tampa Princeton Tour, etc.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts to include phone screens, interviewing, and coordination of hiring events.
  • Make updates and act as an administrator for Workday (Applicant Tracking System.)
  • Work to find efficiencies and implement changes to processes. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Special Projects as assigned.
What you need to succeed

This position has a high degree of interaction and oversight with corporate Human Resources / Care Center management and requires the candidate to be adaptable to a fast-paced, challenging environment while supporting multiple employees at the same time. A successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience + minimum of 3 years of related work experience (HR, Recruitment, Employee Relations).
  • Experience working in a call center environment is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well with others in a high pressured environment.
  • Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships quickly.
  • Comfortable with speaking and facilitating to a large group.
  • Ability to utilize curious thought to analyze a situation.
  • Demonstrated experience of utilizing resources to accomplish tasks.
  • Self-starter, self-directed, and motivated to take ownership of HR policies.
  • Passion to learn continuously and desire to be HR Certified.
  • Proficient working in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Excel.
  • HRIS experience strongly preferred (Workday).
