The Golf Course Mechanic & Irrigation - Winter Outdoor Operator works year-round at Mt. Brighton as an operator in a hybrid capacity.  Under the direction of lead/management staff, responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.  Ensures all golf course equipment is maintained in excellent working order. Works through winter season in an operations capacity, to be determined based on the skillset of the individual and the needs of the Mt. Brighton ski area.  Mt. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summer Operations:

• Duties may include hand watering greens, tees and fairways; trouble shooting wet areas and dry spots; operating and repairing the irrigation system as needed; grading and preparing soil base; laying sod; and performing other duties as directed.
• Operate utility vehicles and assort maintenance equipment (riding and hand-operated mowers, carts, tractors, etc)
• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, electric, and gasoline powered equipment.
• Performs skilled project work as needed and operates specialized equipment.
• Contributes to a preventative maintenance program and places safety procedures as a top priority.
• Provides day-to-day work support to crew, trains and guides staff as needed, and resolves issues and problems
• May assist with fertilizer and chemical applications
• May assist in daily maintenance and upkeep of golf course grounds including mowing greens and tees, repairing tee areas, raking sand traps, trimming/fly mowing, and general landscaping.

Winter Operations:

• Winter outdoor operations will be determined and agreed upon with successful candidate by September 2018.
• Provide winter snow production, operate lifts, or perform alternate function on full-time basis as determined by Mt. Brighton business needs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1 year experience in golf course maintenance and/or irrigation
• Required to pass oral/written test on lift operations
• Must be at least 18 years of age – Required
• Current, valid Driver’s License – Required
• Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends.  This position will work weekends as the business needs in both Winter and Summer – Required
• Able to meet physical demands of the position such as standing outside in inclement weather for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness
• Ability to work well with others while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form (in English) including communicating on the mountain radio
• High School graduation or equivalent – Preferred
