As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to create fun and memorable experiences through adventures in the outdoors.This position will lead scenic educational hikes, off road vehicle tours and mountain bike clinics to guests of all ages and abilities.

 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assist in all operational responsibilities of the programs including but not limited to registration, equipment, outdoor teaching areas, cleanliness of facilities, and all other facets of the programs as they exist.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of all tour participants.
  • To further promote and act as a role model in the areas of: Leave No Trace, the Responsibility Code, and Safety/Risk Management in the Outdoors as prescribed by Adventure Ridge’s Activity Department Manual and it's Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist the biking/ hiking/touring public whenever possible.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by Adventure Ridge Leadership Team.

 

Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Able to meet Colorado State requirements for all background checks
  • Must be able to communicate easily and effectively in English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Have a Valid Driver’s License and hiring will be contingent on passing an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) to prove a satisfactory driving record
  • Must be able to be seated in a vehicle for 8+ hours daily
  • Must be able to hike mountainous terrain for 8+ hours a day
  • Must be able to bike in mountainous terrain for 8+ hours a day (Bike guides only)
  • Mountain Bike Guides must provide their own bike and helmet. Bikes must be newer style with hydraulic disk brakes and full suspension (100mm or more) and in good working order.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Must have two years minimum of guest service experience
  • Must be comfortable working in a high alpine environment (working through inclement weather conditions)

 

Preferred:

 

  • Knowledge of Vail Mt. and surrounding area, including history, flora, fauna, geology, etc.
  • Prior Mountain Biking Experience
  • CPR/AED certified
  • Prior Adventure/Tour Guiding Experience
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish
