The Department of Organizational Learning is seeking candidates with expertise and experience in the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of educational interventions centered around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). These interventions are geared toward staff and faculty populations at the University. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will consult with units across the U-M to assess DEI learning and development needs, develop programs and interventions to address the needs identified, and recommend appropriate paths to support successful achievement of unit strategic goals. Deep knowledge and expertise in proven, innovative learning methodologies to effectively engage staff and faculty at all levels is a key skill set for this position. Equally important is the background and experience of engaging mass populations in large-scale organizational and cultural change efforts. The individual in this role will also be expected to exhibit excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with specific experience in the academic setting.

Responsibilities*

Assessment and Analysis

* Identify current industry and environmental trends in responding to changing learning needs related to DEI

* Use a variety of methods and techniques to collect organizational information for the purposes of program/curriculum development (e.g. focus groups, surveys, interviews, etc.)

* Analyze and synthesizes data to determine trends and implications for learning and development programs and interventions

* Summarize findings and recommendations in reports

Design and Development

* Collaborate with various levels of staff, faculty or leadership to produce learning interventions based on identified organizational needs

* Incorporate adult learning principles and delivery techniques that connect learning to application

* Develop learning goals and objectives for programs from analysis activities

* Develop online and classroom course materials and activities to meet learning outcomes and objectives

* Create job aids or other alternative learning solutions to support learning and transfer

* Identify and integrate best practice e-learning and social media technologies to enhance learning

* Create content outlines and facilitator guides for standardizing educational programs

* Prepare communication materials such as powerpoint and Prezi presentations, videos, etc. promoting a lifelong learning model

Implementation & Delivery - Project/program Coordination & Facilitation

* Collaborate with units leads and counterparts in similar positions to Implement DEI programs/interventions on-time, within budget and with high quality

* Coordinate/organize various aspects of interventions to support capacity building and continuous improvement of programs

* Facilitate educational programs using best practice teaching methods and strategies

* Lead meetings, conversations and discussions on DEI related topics

* Flex teaching style to meet various learning styles of diverse audiences

* Create a supportive learning environment for all learners

* Provide overview presentations and informational sessions on program offerings

Evaluation

* Conduct evaluations to identify areas for improvement and to assure interventions are effective and reflective of university/unit strategic plans

* Maintain or develop evaluation tools for measuring program offerings and interventions

* Conduct post evaluation studies as needed to identify performance measures for future interventions

* Produce reports, briefings, and presentations summarizing impact of learning activities and interventions

Required Qualifications*

* Bachelor's degree

* Three to five years of quality work experience, at an increasingly higher level, in instructional design and/or curriculum development

* Thorough knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models

* Demonstrated experience developing surveys and conducting focus groups

* Minimum of three years demonstrated experience as a successful and effective facilitator/trainer

* Global and cultural awareness with ability to present complex culturally sensitive information to a variety of audiences

* Critical thinking and sound decision making skills

* Ability to manage multiple projects/programs with tight deadlines

* Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills

* Demonstrated technical proficiency in MS suite of products and e-learning software

* Eagerness to keep abreast of new educational tools and technologies

* Willingness to maintain design and facilitation skills and abilities through various methods of professional development including books, courses, conferences, online resources, workgroups, certifications, and networking with others in similar profession

Desired Qualifications*

* Adequate knowledge of learning management software

* Experienced with process mapping and storyboarding

* Strong technical writing and editing skills

* Experience with design software to create appealing, user-friendly learning materials
