The maintenance supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to a team of mechanics and to implement and execute department goals. Provide communication for shift transitions and pass on clearly to the oncoming maintenance shift of the daily issues and turnover items. Dictate priority and preventative maintenance work based on plant action items and failure maintenance requests. Responsible for attending daily meetings (start up, shift transition) and completing of daily shift performance reports.

Oversee root cause analysis/reliability strategies in terms of continuous improvement and operational excellence of the maintenance shift. Hold maintenance mechanics accountable for work related duties (attendance, work order documentation and performance). Work cross functionally with different plant departments to support plant operation (food safety, plant safety, production, human resources).

Provide support for capital project installations and startups relating to new plant equipment and applicable buildings/ground projects. Assist with weekend maintenance supervision, rotating with other maintenance supervisors on a rotational calendar. Be prepared to work during full production days that are scheduled on a weekend day in order to support plant production coverage. Possibility for filling in on different shifts to help with vacation coverage for other maintenance shifts, with early notification.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Leadership:

* Provide leadership and management of the maintenance department

* Coaching, supervising, performance management, development, recognition, engagement maintenance mechanics. Coordinate follow up work and guide communication between each shift, provide direction on priority work and support the preventative maintenance strategy (utilizing Manager Plus Maximo/SAP).

30% Operational Excellence:

* Assist in improving and maintaining reliability strategies, initiate root cause analysis, cost and budget management, communicate best practices. Champion Management Operating System (MOS) ???? and enforce company policies.

* Schedule daily work orders for each mechanic and support Maintenance Planner for work order related actions.

10% Safety & Food Safety:

* Ensure commitment of EHS and Food Safety Quality & Regulatory (FSQR) policies/regulations. Provide leadership on 1st 2nd shift for potential evacuation/HAZMAT issues.

10% Support equipment installations:

* Assist in supporting capital/expense related projects, working with Maintenance Superintendent in terms of moving equipment into the plant, buildings/ground work, and other related work

10% Maintenance coverage:

* Support the maintenance weekend coverage (rotational calendar)

Required Qualifications

* 2 years food processing, manufacturing, or industrial experience

* 2 years of Maintenance Supervisor experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience and knowledge of food processing facility (Further processing, beef/pork/poultry processing)

* Experience with food processing and manufacturing equipment (Roll stock, tray sealing, meat slicers, automation)

* Basic knowledge of OSHA and food safety regulations

* Basic computer skills (Manager Plus, Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal functions (maintenance, production, food safety, environmental health & safety, accounting/procurement, sales, research and development)

* Demonstrate ability to set priorities, problem solve, and execution skills

* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills with peer groups and corporate leadership.
