Gallery and Retail Store Manager, Located in the most Majestic place on earth

We are seeking a full-time, year-round Gallery & Retail Store Manager for an exclusive client located in the heart of Yosemite National Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead, manage and develop a team of sales associates while directing the success of a unique gallery/retail store in a one of a kind environment.

Yosemite Valley is a small remote resort style community with an elementary school, a general store, a post office, and very few other urban or suburban amenities: No health club required – you are already there. Experience or familiarity with living in such an environment is an important success factor for this role.

The Ansel Adams Gallery (www.AnselAdams.com) is owned and operated by descendants of Ansel Adams and is the oldest continuously operating business within the National Park System.

General Responsibilities:

The Ansel Adams Gallery and Retail Store Manager is responsible for operating the business in a manner consistent with Adams family ethics and objectives as defined by the President and Board of Directors. This position must take a big picture approach focusing on customer service, quality products, environmental interpretation and overall success within the company’s ethics and philosophy.

These responsibilities include:

· Successful financial performance including sales, gross margins, operating expenses, and profitability.

· Staff development and management, including new employee recruitment, training, coaching, motivating and scheduling.

· Developing individual and collective sales goals for the Gallery team, working collaboratively to achieve those sales goals through sales techniques, product knowledge, and motivational rewards programs.

· Maintaining professional, effective and cordial relations with vendors, contractors, the National Park Service, as well as other park businesses and leaders.

This position has a high degree of autonomy and requires a highly competent, motivated, ethical and trustworthy individual. Senior management provides direction and support to the role, including guidance in budgeting, accounting, and marketing. Direct reports are engaged in contract compliance, facility management, buying and purchasing as well as other operational support.

Education:

Minimum 4-year degree preferred: Teaching credential a plus.

Required Experience:

7 years of advancing responsibility in specialty retail.

2 years of P&L responsibility, including developing and managing to a budget.

2 years of sales and sales management including employee development, motivation, and training.

2 years of fine art sales preferred.

2 years of experience working with service level agreements and requirements.

Strong people skills.

An upbeat and positive attitude with a strong ­­focus on customer satisfaction.

Strong organizational, computer and mathematical skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and style.
