Description

Utility Operator

The Utility Operator operates assigned stations and all other associated work including preventative maintenance, machine changeovers, making minor adjustments to maintain greatest operational efficiency, assist other mechanics, etc. The Utility Operator is capable of performing any of the functions of the machine operators on the line with the ability to operate all of the machines and equipment involved in those roles.

Shift and Schedule

***This is a unionized facility and shift assignments are based on seniority as well as business needs. There is no guarantee of shift or hours due to the changing needs of the business.***

This is a full time permanent position working on either 2nd or 3rd shift. 2nd shift hours are from 3:00pm - 11:15pm and 3rd shift hours are from 11:00pm to 7:15am Monday through Friday. Must have the flexibility to work on either shift depending on business needs and seniority.


Position Responsibilities
  1. Must be able to relieve any position on assigned lines for breaks, lunch or absences
  2. Must possess the ability to lead the team in the absence of the team supervisor
  3. Communicate effectively with members of the team regarding line deficiencies
  4. Train other operators on use of machinery.
  5. Perform best practice quality checks on line and equipment.
  6. Set up machinery and ensure all production materials are available.
  7. Operate and monitor equipment and replenish materials as needed.
  8. Monitor line for defective materials and perform any other related work in accordance with line quality.
  9. Record all data as required (i.e. charts, necessary process adjustments based on data findings, etc.).
  10. Clean and sanitize all equipment and facility as required.
  11. Responsible for insuring all raw material supplies are staged for use and replaced when needed for example: caps, ends or closures, shells, corrugated boxes or trays
  12. Responsible for returning all unused raw materials back into the Raw Material Warehouse in a usable condition.
  13. Communicate with filler operator, packer operator, depalletizer operator, palletizer operator and Line supervisors to ensure proper flow of finished goods.
  14. Responsible for insuring all raw material supplies are staged for use and replaced when needed for example: caps, ends or closures, shells, corrugated boxes or trays
  15. Responsible for the removal and proper disposal of trash and recyclable materials in all areas of the production line assigned during and at the end of the shift
  16. Follows all GMP rules and assists other associates in their understanding of all GMP rules
  17. Maintain excellent attendance
  18. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 5 years of high-speed production machinery and monitoring product quality
  • 3 years' experience working with touch screen production machinery
  • Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly, walking and standing for long period of time
