ABOUT THE POSITIONS:

  • Our Moton Little Cubs Preschool, located at Moton Elementary School, is in immediate need of an infant teacher, one-year-old teacher, and a two/three-year-old teacher. 

WHO YOU ARE:

A creative, experienced teacher with a passion for helping children learn and grow in preparation for elementary school. You are exceptional at teaching child development basics such as speech and language, identifying colors, numbers, shapes and letters, fine and gross motor skills, and social skills, implementing Creative Curriculum, while always adhering to Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Early Learning Coalition (ELC) rules and regulations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The preschool teacher will be responsible for planning, evaluating and implementing a program to care for  children. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal and state legislation and policies. The preschool teacher will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and provide activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
  • Attend to the personal hygiene of each child in your care, including changing diapers or soiled clothing, washing hands and faces, and potty training
  • Play with children; this will often mean getting down of the floor to interact with them
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials appropriate for the early childhood program
  • Maintain attendance records
  • Maintain a safe environment based on safety standards set by the program
  • Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the classrooms throughout and at the end of the day
  • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information to parents, coworkers, and the director on a continuous basis; maintain open, friendly and cooperative relationship with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
  • Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences, staff meetings, and other staff development opportunities

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  • Pay rate starting at $9.50
  • This position is classified as part-time, however, this position typically works 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. There are occasional trainings, conferences, and staff meetings after hours or on Saturdays.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 45 Hour Child Care Training with Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)
  • Experience working in a preschool, experience with two and three year olds preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus
  • Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) or Child Development Associate (CDA) are a plus
