The Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and release of all electromechanical core lighting components and electrical modules such as interior lights, lighting control modules, overhead consoles, vacuum cleaners, cooled and heated cup holders and bins, and seat massage module. Responsibilities will include standardization plan development, interface with product design office, vehicle development, other Interior and Electrical Engineering teams, and suppliers to design, develop and release these components. The Engineer will interface between Design Studio and suppliers in the creation of functional lighting solutions that achieve design requirements. The Engineer will have knowledge in design for LED, halogen and other advanced lighting systems, including reflector and light guide design experience. Responsibilities will include maintaining core lighting design practices, implementing roadmaps as well as utilizing SPEOS lighting simulation as a lighting simulation tool, advancement of new technologies and procedures to improve program timing for lighting systems, writing source packages, specifications, requirements, and change notices. The Engineer is also responsible for supplier management to meet program and Electrical Development timing and deliverables. The Engineer will follow, track and determine root cause of build issues found during pre-production builds and vehicle issues found during development. The Engineer will be responsible for issue resolution prior to launch of the program and warranty analysis of all the components after the launch.
