The Entry Maintenance Technician will assist with seasonal set-up and tear down (spring and fall) of all activities, zip lines, alpine coaster and alpine slide and Epic Discovery signage. This role will also assist with summer area preparation/teardown, to include signage operational structures and fences/closures and other duties as assigned. The Entry maintenance technician will assist with daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections on the activities. Perform routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs & rescues on the activities, rides, climbing walls and assigned work spaces. The entry maintenance technician will assist the lead maintenance technician and or lift maintenance staff in all aspects of maintenance and support the operations team (activities & lifts).

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, wear proper PPE, be at work on time and have a positive attitude.
  • Assist with set-up, tear down, and storage of activities/signage.
  • Ability to clearly communicate. Understand and speak fluent English. Able to take direction from Team Lead.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of vehicles; truck & trailer, UTV, ATV safely on and off mountain.
  • Ability to operate/ use power tools, hand tools and precision tools safely. Able to work with hands, tie knots, repetitive motion etc.
  • Able to assist in the repair of all assigned equipment, work spaces and activities.
  • Working with the necessary PPE (harnesses, helmets, ropes, slings, rescue equipment, trolleys) to assist with maintenance and rescue at heights up to 300’ on Challenge courses, Canopy tour, and Zip Flyer.
  • Communicates and documents safety issues including near misses and incident prevention opportunities.
  • Assists in documentation of all scheduled/ unscheduled work performed. Able to read and write English.
  • Ability to do physical work, stand for long periods of time and preform repetitive motions.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Outdoors, mechanical, physical work history 
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Basic computer skills such as email, Microsoft word, Enabalon entry
  • Fluent in all aspects of English (spoken, written, and understood)
  • Comfortable working at heights in excess of 300’ feet above the ground in a physically demanding environment (all weather conditions)
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor mountain environment in all types of weather
  • Ability to remain calm and in control in varying degrees of emergency situations (weather, medical, rescue).
  • Must work well in a team environment, communicating with team members, taking direction from Team Leads.
  • Adherence to all Vail Resorts/ Breckenridge policies and procedures.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in challenge courses, zip lines, canopy tours, mountain coasters, tubing hills, etc.
  • First Aid/First responder training and certification.
  • Rope work, knot tying, rock climbing experience.
  • Mechanical ability
