About this job

THE JIST: Computes, records and verifies financial data for use in maintaining records. Able to work positively across all departments and effectively team with peers to support department objectives.

THE ESSENTIALS:
• Prepares monthly debt analysis.
• Prepares monthly account reconciliations and analysis of any other corporate accounts, as assigned.
• Reviews monthly operational performance versus budget, forecast and prior year for general & administrative cost centers assigned.
• Prepares monthly earnings pick up and elimination entries for consolidation.
• Prepares quarterly debt compliance financial ratio calculations and other schedules.
• Prepares quarterly Proof of Cash.
• Assists in the annual audit of workers compensation and general liability insurance premiums and prepares projections for new policy years.
• Performs review of inputs used in annual workers compensation and general liability actuarial report.
• Assists in preparation of, and tie out of the annual and quarterly public filings and press release.
• Completes quarterly and annual Census Bureau requests.
• Completes quarterly GAAP disclosure checklist
• Gathers information and/or prepares reports related to areas of responsibility for financial statement auditors and external consultants for quarterly and annual financial statement calculations and related disclosures and Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements.
• Special projects, as assigned by the Financial Reporting Director
• Assists in the development of Company accounting policies and process improvement initiatives.
• May supervise and review the work of up to one Staff Accountant.

• Encounters problems with a mix of ambiguous and standardized solutions

• Prioritization of work is typically determined by the incumbent, with input and guidance from the manager
• Frequently makes recommendations that are given weight
• Has some authority to modify processes, interpret policies or recommend programs that will directly impact the functional area
• Short-term goals are typically set by the incumbent in close collaboration with the manager
• Short-term goals have a direct impact on long-term goals of the functional area and/or organization
• Supervises at least one Individual Contributor or Professional/Analyst


CREDENTIALS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; two to four years of experience, preferably in retail industry.


THE GOODS:
• Proficient with basic computer applications, including Excel.
• Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
