JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineer will install, repair and maintain gas monitoring systems for Airgas and its customers Nationwide. The candidate must possess knowledge and ability across mechanical, engineering, IT, and electrical fields. This high level technician must also be able to effectively communicate the purpose and value of these Airgas systems with a variety of clientele.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Liaison with management, Engineering, IT and safety personnel at all sites

* Streamline IT networking integration and troubleshooting

* Technical ability to build, repair, and or maintain all Airgas systems

* Electrical expertise in installing, maintaining and troubleshooting

* Ability to differentiate and resolve equipment, electrical and IT related issues

* Ability to efficiently plan and execute all service requirements in the field while implementing new installs nationwide.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5 years' experience installing and maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing complex technical systems.

* Knowledge of electrical codes: NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, NFPA 496, UL 508A, etc.

* A or MCSE a plus

* 5 years' experience with HAZOP procedures, adhering to safety standards.

* 3-5 years' experience with industrial controls, computer and PLC networks, set up and assistance.

* High attention to detail, and ability to interpret intricate drawings and instruction manuals.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

* AS or BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, with strong computer science background or equivalent work experience.

* 5 years' experience installing and repairing with technical mechanical and electrical systems and related components.

* CNC Machine Repair a plus.

* Experience with PLC controls from vendors such as Koyo.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

* 50 Percent

COMPUTER SKILLS:

* Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

* Able to save and maintain electronic files.

* Advanced computer skills (setup and deploy).

* Network skills (basic router setup).

COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:

* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

* Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as Wiring diagrams, mechanical or electrical drawing, P&ID's, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

* Mathematical skills relevant to the technical application

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
