About this job

Provides total respiratory care for patients with varyingrespiratory problems, administering all types of respiratory therapy andrecords EKGs as ordered by the Medical Staff.

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is also responsible forseeing that all data processing, preventative maintenance, and infectioncontrol procedures are performed.

The Certified Respiratory Therapist acts as supervisor inthe absence of the Senior Respiratory Therapist when assigned.

The Certified Respiratory Therapist must be able to demonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age ofthe patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge ofthe principles of growth and development over the life span and possess theability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret theappropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relativeto his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as describedin the unit's / area's / department's policies and procedures.

The Clinical Specialist will assist the physician in theoperating suite when needed.

Education and Training: Must be a graduate of an accredited school ofrespiratory therapy and be certified by the National Board of Respiratory Careand registry eligible. Registry must be completed within 6 months ofemployment. Registered by NBRC ispreferred. NC Respiratory Care Licenserequired.

Experience: Three months experience providing respiratory care in health caresetting and certified in basic CPR, and ACLS are required at the time of hire.NRP and PALS are required within the first 4 months of employment.

Affiliations: Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care and theNorth Carolina Society of the American Association for Respiratory Therapy Carepreferred.
