University of Michigan Camp Go Blue has exciting opportunities for summer counselors for our Camp Go Blue. Looking for individuals available June 11 through August 24.
Counselors are expected to support and engage children aged five to twelve in fun play-based activities in the mornings and spend the afternoons in activities such as having a picnic lunch, going swimming. exploring the wonderful city of Ann Arbor on various field-trips, reading, relaxing, arts and crafts, and just having FUN with the all the campers.
University Human Resources seeks to recruit and retain a diverse workforce as a reflection of our commitment to serve the diverse people of Michigan, to sustain the excellence of the university, and to offer our students richly varied disciplines, perspectives, and ways of knowing and learning.
Responsibilities*
Typical Responsibilities and Duties:
* Ensure the safety of children attending Camp Go Blue.
* Perform various task to make sure daily operations run smoothly and that all children are engaged in having fun
* Come up with creative theme day activities for designated days
* Keep the camp facilities, kitchen and equipment clean during the course of the summer
* Break down, pack up and clean all equipment and area at the end of the summer
Essential Functions:
* Strong communication skills, both with children and adults
* Ability to oversee the safety and well-being of all children enrolled.
* Ability to communicate with children and adults and to work with groups and teams
* Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, and re-direct negative behavior (bullying, fighting, inappropriate language)
Required Qualifications*
* Desire and ability to work with children aged 5-12 years old.
* Be physically able to participate in activities and swimming.
* Enjoy sports and outdoor activities
* Have a high energy level, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience
Desired Qualifications*
* Previous camp related experience preferred, but, not required.
