Job Description

Litho Department Manager:
Our client is looking for a Lithography Department Manager for their start-up operation in Canton, OH.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong printing and pre-press background experience, hands on experience and in-depth printing industry to make their mark!

 
KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong Printing and prepress background with hands on experience
  • Offset printing preferred, flat sheet experience a plus
  • LEAN Implementation experience with Toyota Production System (TPS) 
  • Proven experience in a demanding role
  • Demonstrated Mechanical / Technical ability
  • LEAN Implementation experience with Toyota Production System (TPS) 
  • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt Certification Preferred)
  • Strong Problem Solving experience
  • Experience in Standard Work and Training
  • Ability to work with customers and prepress to deliver highest lithography quality
  • Demonstrated results in improving operations significantly in a short time
  • Ability to analyze downtime production data, look for trends, and make corrections to insure KPI metrics are met within the department
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
     

TRAVEL: Requires short-term and long-term domestic travel.  (5% travel)
 
EDUCATION: 4 year Engineering or Technical; or extensive experience and knowledge. 

KEY Responsibilities include:

  • Assists in the management of the plant production function as directed.
  • Implement Lean in the plant using the Toyota Production System (TPS) Continuous Improvement methodologies and Formal Problem Solving to improve productivity performance (SPC, process capability, pareto analysis, fishbone, 5 Whys, SMED, DOE, 5S, KPI, , VSM and kaizen events, A3, 9 Step, 8D, etc.)
  • Maintaining a safe and secure work environment.  This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required.
  • Administers the direction and supervision of the plant production function as directed.
  • Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence that will discourage third party interference or establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence with employees, which will promote achievement of plant and company goals.
  • Work with pressman and prepress to make sure lithography quality standards are met per company requirements and customer needs
  • Work with supplier to resolve material issues with steel, coating, and varnish
  • Lead improvement teams to resolve quality and production issues
