Job Description:

3M is seeking a Production Operator for the 3M Oral Care Division located in Monrovia, CA. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Production Operator will perform simple manual tasks such as staging, rework, assembly, order pulling, bin replenishment, packaging, stretching, or use of hand or bench tools at a steady pace. Use simple judgment to comply with standards. Operate manual, semi-auto bench-top machinery or equipment with minimal set-up duties required. Make simple changes on repetitive jobs involving such activities as recognition and selection of visual defects. Identifies equipment malfunction and reports problems to management.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Operates manual or semi-auto equipment, assembles, stages, rework, order pulling, bin replenishment, packages, and load/unloads

* Performs in-process inspection of parts produced complying with MOD and specification requirements. Separates defective parts and reports to management

* Follows all department and corporate procedures regarding safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory, etc.

* Must meet quality and productivity standards as established by the department

* May be required to assist in basic training of co-workers on an as-needed basis

* Must participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, tier review process)

* Must be able to use computer systems as appropriate within department to perform job functions

* Must be able to perform essential functions of the position as described in the Functional Job Analysis

* Performs miscellaneous duties as required by supervision

* Read and understand basic drawings/specifications

This position may require:

* Weekend work

* Overtime

* Holidays as needed

* Short notice shift coverage

* Specific hours/shifts (1st, 2nd 3rd shifts)

* Frequent physical demands:

* Repetitive motion of arms/hands

* Prolonged Standing, Bend/Twist/Stoop

* Overhead Work/Reach about shoulder level

* Lifting/Carrying 11-50 lbs

* Operate or work near moving machinery

* Color and visual perception

Basic Qualifications:

* Possess a High School Diploma/GED equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

* Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy

* Good manual dexterity

* Experience using precision measuring instruments

* Good reading, writing and oral communication skills

* Basic math and computer skills

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
