The Financial Reporting & Accounting Analyst completes, updates, and maintains complex and routine journal entries for the monthly general ledger close. The Analyst analyzes and interprets status of accounts and communicates results. He/she participates in annual audits, and documents accounting procedures under GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. The Analyst prepares both internal and external financial statements accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing complex and routine journal entries during the monthly general ledger close, reconciling complex balance sheet accounts (e.g. analyzing, tracking, determining, and making changes), and presenting, communicating, and/or resolving unusual items
- Analyzing and interpreting status of accounts and communicating this information to the appropriate managers and staff
- Preparing both external and internal financial statements in an accurate and timely manner
- Participating in annual external audit and quarterly reviews; includes working with the accounting team to establish schedules and meeting any related deadlines, supporting conclusions/positions, and providing requested back-up to auditors
- Developing and performing internal controls under SOX requirements; maintaining documentation over accounting and financial reporting processes; assisting with SOX compliance and internal audit requests.
- Completing XBRL tagging for SEC filings
- Performing international accounting, consolidation, and participating in annual statutory audits
- Maintaining the policies and procedures manual and accurately maintaining chart of accounts
- Preparing other financial and accounting analyses and providing business perspective, support, and financial consultation to Wynkoop departments
- Assist or manage accounting work for assigned special projects
- Identifying areas of opportunity throughout accounting processes and the business, and proactively acting on those opportunities by suggesting and/ or making changes
- Perform occasional technical accounting research
- Working efficiently by utilizing available resources to manage multiple deadlines or projects at the same time
- Sharing knowledge with others about accounting and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will:
- Possess a B.A./B.S./Masters in Accounting, with at least three (3) years of experience in public accounting and/or industry
- Have experience accounting for a variety of issues in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Have a positive attitude
- Love collaborating and working in a team
- Possess excellent analytical, quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills
- Be able to effectively manage priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Be able to manage financial data in a confidential and professional manner
