Providence is calling a Cook (Dietary Dept, Variable Shift, On-Call) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska.
In this position you will:
* Be responsible for the preparation of food for residents, patients, staff and special events.
* Set up dining areas; wash and sanitize dishes.
* Prepare, deliver and serve food to patients, residents and other customers while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
* Assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the Dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
* Follow the menu for the patients and residents according to customer needs and satisfaction to be in compliance with nutritional guidelines.
Required qualifications for this position include:
* High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
* Ability to read, write and speak English
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
* Certification in Food Safety and Sanitation
* Specific vocational training in food or nutritional training; training can be provided in a school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.
* 6 months training or on the job training in quantity food preparation in cooking, estimating food needed, requisitioning and storing food and supplies, basic principles of dietetics and principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in food handling.

Providence Valdez Medical Center is an 11 bed Critical Access Hospital co-located with a licensed 10 bed Long Term Care facility. Our team of physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians, clinicians and support staff provide quality and compassionate inpatient and outpatient health care to patients and residents. Our state of the art facility, built in 2004, is able to provide a wide array services including acute, emergency, Labor and Delivery, Radiology, Ultrasound, CT Scan, DEXA scan, CLIA certified laboratory, Rehab services including Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies.
