About this job

Primary Function:   Safely and responsibly operates all types of vehicles: tractor-trailer, yard tractor, pickup truck, company van, etc., for intra-company and inter-company pickups and deliveries.  Loads and unloads trucks with the use of motorized and non-motorized equipment: forklift/pallet jack, etc., to ensure goods are loaded properly to prevent damage.  Represents Lamplight when interacting with Customers and Vendors during deliveries and pickups.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for truck and material shipped.
  • Delivers loads between all company facilities and from rail yards.
  • Performs inspections and preventative maintenance required to ensure truck is in good running order daily, such as lights, brakes, oil and gas, etc.Ensures truck is in good safe order before leaving any destination. Documents findings.
  • Signs for material being received and secures signature on bill of lading for material being delivered.Coordinates paperwork requirements with internal departments as necessary.
  • Occasionally pickups and delivers out of town.
  • Operates all outdoor equipment: snow plow, lawn tractor, etc.
  • Loads/unloads material from trucks as required.
  • Operates forklift and perform other material handling duties as noted.
  • Uses WMS and record inventory transactions accurately.
  • Assists with administrative functions within shipping and receiving or inventory areas.
  • Oversee temp personnel at off-site warehouses to ensure compliance with procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintains clean, safe environment and adheres to all safety requirements on the property and while driving on the road.Maintains compliance with all road and DOT laws and guidelines.
  • Communicates immediately if any equipment used requires repairs, including dock equipment.
  • Participates in Lean initiatives and suggest other continuous improvement ideas.
  • Support mechanical and electrical maintenance functions on equipment and facilities to keep operations in good working order, compliant with safety regulations and policies.
  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Perform miscellaneous maintenance functions such as changing lights, repairing windows and doors, moving furniture, monitoring building temperatures and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Assist in setup and maintenance of oil room, rail yard and truck equipment.
  • Ensures good quality oil is received by testing samples obtained from vendor or from tanker rail cars at rail spur.
  • Lamplight is a seasonal business.From November- June incumbent will be driving trucks and hours will be 6:00am-2:00pm and from July-October incumbent will be driving forklifts, other duties as assigned and hours will be 5:00am-2:00pm.Overtime is expected and some Saturday’s during the peak season are required.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or GED
  • Group A CDL with Hazmat (H) endorsement and Tanker (N) endorsement
  • 5 years minimum driving experience with excellent driving record.
  • Experience handling and hauling hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT trucking related laws and requirements.
  • Ability to pass DOT minimum physical tests.
  • Able to work flexible hours when needed.
  • Able to drive forklift, count and record inventory and products and perform inspections and preventative maintenance requirements on trucks and dock equipment as required.
  • Mechanically inclined to support maintenance department as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
